Rantsports had a list of 5 possible trades for the Rams for this years draft and the last one was by far the craziest and I thought I would post it and see what everyone thought.

The trade was this: Browns trade up to #2 to draft Clemson WR Sammy Watkins.

However, the trade did not involve the #4 pick because the thinking was the Browns would be going "all in" in pairing Watkins with either Manziel or Bortles at #4.

The Browns would give the Rams the #26 pick, their 2nd round pick and 1st round picks in '15 & '16.

While this is the least likely trade to be made out of the 5 suggested, it was interesting. Would the Browns really make a bold move like that and would the Rams really want to drop out of the top 10 in the draft even if it meant extra 1st rounders for another couple of years?

Your thoughts?

The other trades were as follows:

No trade- draft Clowney

Browns trade #4 & #26 to draft Manziel

Atlanta trades #6, #37 and a 2nd in '15 to draft Clowney

Vikings trade #8, #41 and a 1st in '15 to take a QB.

These are 2 that I see happening. The other 2 seem doubtful

I think Tampa Bay is a potential partner as well.

The Rams FO loves to trade down, so it's likely they will do one of these trades. Then they'll draft someone they'll be trying to unload in a couple of years and continue to be the best last place team in the NFC.

I am beginning to believe the FO is going to completely eff this draft up just for future draft picks. The question then becomes: At what point in time do we stop bypassing very good players to select less than very good players now just to get more draft picks to pick the very good players later that we should be picking now?

In the meantime we sacrifice the prospect of getting closer to a winning season now to push that ahead to some point in time so we can wait another couple of years after we get the really good players to actually have it all come together into a winning season and become perennial winner.

In essence, we will wait another 5-6 years to realize a winning season while our divisional counterparts are finding and drafting the really good players and winning now. Does anybody else see this nonsense we have been tolerating??

We would still get the #13 and #26 +their 2nd and our 2nd. There is still value here. This is the best scenario I've heard so far. Sure, by doing this we are passing on some talent, but we are loading up for the future. With the 13 and 26 go o-line and safety.

I agree we would still be picking in front of the niners and Seattle with both picks. 4 picks in the top 44 would be great. They could even trade back a few spots from 13 say with Dallas and pick up a 3rd. Two 2nd and 2 3rd's

In 2 years since Fisher and Snead got here they have taken a team that won 15 games in 5 years, essentially blew it up, put together the youngest team in the NFL and went 14-15-1 in 2 years. Can we not talk like this is "same old Rams" or doubt these guys. They have given us no reason to do so and are not getting enough credit. Did any of us expect to be in the playoffs in 2 years? If so we were drinking the kool-aid. The Rams had the worst 5-year span in NFL history and they are digging out of that hole. I know its annoying but the patience has to be there.

Let's look at what's happened in the past few drafts:

Jacksonville trades in front of us and takes Justin Blackmon. We pick next but trade down with Dallas. Dallas takes Morris Claiborne (injured most of the past two years). We take Michael Brockers and get another pick. Nobody has a problem with this trade down.

We trade the #2 overall pick to Washington and get multiple first round picks. Nobody has a problem with this trade down.

We trade up with Buffalo and draft Tavon Austin. Plenty of dissension with this TRADE UP. We trade down with Atlanta and get Alex Ogletree. Nobody has a problem with this trade down.

So trading down hasn't been a problem. The PROBLEM is the front office talent evaluation in rounds two and three with the extra picks we get which we've all discussed plenty.

Yea I get the gist of what you are saying RamCub and along with MUTigers, patience is the norm with the mess we came from. But as some draft in time, the waiting has to cease and the dividend recuperation must commence. I wonder when that will be when both Seattle and the Niners and now the Cards are doing a better job right under our noses.

Retro - It all starts at the QB position. If we drafted Colin K. or Russell Wilson in the second or third rounds respectively or got the experienced Carson Palmer we would be ahead of the 5 year plan!

Hopefully, Sam Bradford has an injury free year.

I would totally be ok with any of these scenarios. I have stated from day #1 that we will not make a pick at #2 but I also said we will not pick any lower than #7 in a switch with Tampa... any lower and I think we lose value.

We lose value if we move out of the top 4. From there its pretty even until around pick 11 or so, imo. Not high on a couple of these players but this would be a rough value chart at this early stage:

Elite value: Bortles, Bridgewater, Clowney, Manziel
High 1st rounder value: Mack, Barr, Matthews, Robinson, Watkins
1st value: Mosley, Nix, Jernigan, Lewan, Ebron, Evans, Zach Martin
Low 1st value-High 2nd value: Too many to list

Any explanation on how the Rams got all of those picks? 7 in the top 75? Is this from your multiple trade down scenario from another thread?

Of your elite values, Rams don't need any of them, although they could make room for Clowney. Of the high 1st rounders, 2 are 3-4 outside LBs and 2 are OTs, of which 4 or more have 1st round grades. Watkins would be great to get obviously. Any of the 1st round value players would be great gets.
