Which offense will show up biggest, the pitching for both teams is ridiculed by injuries?
Come to Jesus time for EA:
As the Rangers reach a critical moment in Andrus’ career, they are taking a page from the past to try moving him back in the right direction.
“It’s our intention to stay on him a little more,” manager Ron Washington said after Andrus had a pair of hits in a 9-6 loss to Toronto on Sunday. “He’s still young. He had success at an early age. Now, we are adjusting.”
To that end, Washington began the process before the second half officially started. He called Andrus in for a heart-to-heart meeting before the series began. Hitting instructor Dave Magadan followed up with his own one-on-one talk about preparation the next day.
Andrus got the hint.
“I’d say it was an eye-opener,” Andrus said. “Sometimes you don’t realize that you are doing things wrong until somebody points it out to you. I’ve always appreciated that. He’s right in everything he said. It’s made me think about a lot of things.”
Andrus’ eight-year, $120 million contract extension kicks in next year. It’s unlikely the team will move him now with his value at an all-time low, but if things don’t pick up in the second half, the Rangers’ hand could be forced. If they look to the future, there are Luis Sardinas and Jurickson Profar to choose from and, when Derek Jeter’s farewell tour ends at the completion of this season, the New York Yankees might just be desperate enough to pick up Andrus’ contract.
“It’s up to me now,” Andrus said. “I have to make the changes and be the Elvis I used to be. I’m glad I’ve still got time to fix things.”
My question is what took so long for this meeting to take place.
Do you suppose it was someone else's idea? Knowing Wash it might have been. That's exactly the question you should be asking.

I thought Madagan's chat was also interesting after the 2 hole has failed miserably. Hope to see it improve. If not, a change needs to be made there.IDK. But Wash is stubborn beyond stubborn when it comes to recognizing shortcomings of his players. His biggest fault is his best attribute, and that being his loyalty.
I thought he should have had that "fire and brimstone" team meeting long before he did too. And Lord knows, and let's not get into this again, but how many posts did we have last year about his running poor David Murphy out there day-after-day?

The 2 hole and Magadan need to improve. The way last year ended with failure scoring w/RISP was unacceptable and needs to be accounted for or we will most likely see much of the same this year. The discussion w/ EA is a start. Let's hope it works and go from there.I'm not really sold on magadan. I'm basing that more of last year than this year, though.

Yes I think so.Valid point on the shortcomings/attributes statement. But I think we can all agree this was so obvious that fans of the game were noticing it for quite some time.
The Yankees are really beginning to concern me in the AL East. Would love to see the Rangers come alive in this series and do some damage.
Appreciate the honor to the late great James Garner, Hammer! Rockford Files! The Yankees are really beginning to concern me in the AL East. Would love to see the Rangers come alive in this series and do some damage.
Don't bet on it. We're basically fielding a AAA team right now.
