He obviously has no idea what he is talking about when he says they went shorthanded with him on the DL anyway. The last time I checked 25 guys are more than 24.
Clearly Calvin is not helping the situation at all. Hate to see him in that dug out. ESPN needs to get a baseball man on the case not some writer jig jogging between the Cowboys, his first priority, and the Rangers.

I'm thinking a man of Richard's caliber is not easy to recruit as fast as we would like. Patience is the order of the day. Something will happen.:hope:

I liked Todd Wills, but he did struggle some. He knew baseball though and would be much better than Calvin. Every time I see Wills name I am reminded of the time he first wrote his "Wash's Wisdom" column. Lainey and a couple of others had a fit because someone was actually going to point out Wash's decision making skills on a regular basis. It turned out that it wasn't nearly as negative as they thought it would be.

I enjoyed the Wash's Wisdom column and it is interesting to see that some of the folks that were Ron apologists have since decided that maybe he is not so great of a manger after all, just a couple short years later.

The first question I have is, why would the Rangers want to play a man down when they knew Darvish was going to be miss at least 2, probably 3, starts?

Anyway, let's hope Martinez can have another good outing.

A couple of things I found interesting.

As O’Brien points out, Gattis would make for a nice trade target for an American League club, given the fact that he could split time between DH and catcher (and perhaps the outfield on occasion). The 28-year-old is hitting a hefty .276/.331/.520 with 20 homers in 353 plate appearances this season, quieting some skeptics (myself included) who felt that his hot start in 2013 may not have been sustainable.
Gattis will finish the season with exactly two years of Major League service, meaning that a club could potentially gain four years of team control over a 20-30 homer bat, and that would certainly have value on the trade market, especially given the dearth of starting-caliber catchers on the free agent market.

Marlins star Giancarlo Stanton says that he is still not certain that he wants to commit to a long-term deal with Miami, Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reports. While the club now features a fairly interesting, younger roster with some future promise, Stanton noted that “five months doesn’t change five years.”

That's what happens when you start losing.

Wouldn't you think Telis would get quite a few games behind the plate for the rest of the season?
