Norm is about to cover, "two Rangers he's about to get VERY concerned about." My guess is it's our two MIF.

Elvis, yes. Odor, not really. Odor's average stinks, but his obp suggests that will improve. He's working counts and taking walks, so I don't see him being in the dumps for much longer. My guess is the other one is Choo.

Holy crap....It's Odor and Choo.............I got Odor and missed on Elvis!

I assumed EA was a given. I believe that's called, counting one's chickens before they're hatched.

OK Ephland.......No award for ya.

Odor is also very young, and still learning the ropes.

I guessed Choo.

Yeah I know. But who was your second one? I assumed - using that word way too much today - you had EA next up. Didn't ya?

So you went .500 just like me. Maybe, anyway. :pound:

I might have guessed Beltre, knowing Norm. Certainly not Odor.

There are plenty of guys to be worried about on this team at this point.

I'd bet ya a bunch of beer that it was EA, and then fill in the blank with one of the following: Odor, AB, Choo.

But if I had to handicap that race, I'd gone - hindsight b/c I had EA to begin with, and thought Odor - 50% Choo/35% Odor/AB 15%.

What was his reasoning for Odor?

If Joe Nathan is really going to try a comeback I think JD will be first in line to offer him a contract.

What was his reasoning for Odor?

His biggest problem with him was his hitting. And he made note of the fact, that Odor's OBP is inflated due to having 5 HBP. Which really is extraordinarily high for so early in the season.

But he just feels his approach is lunging at the ball now, and he's forcing things; not successfully.

I hope not. His time has come and gone.

I will admit he does not look right at the plate. It's almost like he is not ready for much of anything so his swings are late or choppy. He is not putting a good swing on the ball. He probably left EA off because of those awesome hits in game 1 against Arizona. One bounced high over the 3rd baseman and the other dribbled between 1st and 2nd. He just keeps hitting the ball into the ground most of the time. Or it seems that way.

That is right up JD's alley though. Low risk/high upside type guy at that point. I doubt he would command much in the way of salary.

Odor is certainly not a proven hitter at this point. He had a nice rookie season, but he has a ways to go before we can be certain he is an everyday MLB second baseman for a contender. I had a lot of hope for him this season, but he certainly can't afford to regress from last season.

He certainly isn't. But I'm not down on him.

If memory serves, I believe he's still one of, if not the, youngest players in the majors?

So I fully expect some ups and downs from here for a while yet.

let's not forget that Odor - even after all his playing time last year - was the youngest player in camp this year. His developmental path has not been routine. He has as many AAA at-bats as I do. He's going to be more raw than your average MLB second baseman because he is still learning the game. In the latter part of last season, he was noticeably making adjustments and showing improvement, and there's been a hint of it this year as well. The first week of the season he was hacking away at first pitches, and he's been showing restraint since then.

There's significant room for improvement with Odor, obviously. The kid is barely 21. Let's see where he is after 1 full year in the bigs before attaching an element of "concern" to him.

Norm like Fraley is always hard on young players.

Agree. I see a very good player in a few years. I think his defense has improved already from last season and he is really quick at getting to all areas of the field on defense.
