If the brought Foscue back up they could put him in the lineup sometime right next to Pederson. I think combined they are something like 0 for their last 80 at bats. That might set some kind of record.

Or the Rangers could take a more dramatic step and put Leody Taveras on waivers, much as they did with Dane Dunning this spring. Leody is off to a poor start to the year and is out of options, so he can’t be sent down without clearing waivers, but the Rangers might feel like the risk of his being claimed is mitigated by the fact that they’d clear about $4 million in salary under the Collective Bargaining Tax threshold if he were to be claimed.

As I mentioned in the comments this morning, such a move might occur even if the Rangers put Seager on the injured list, as that would allow the team to bring up both Ornelas and Foscue. Foscue could platoon with Pederson at DH, Kevin Pillar could platoon with Dustin Harris in center, and Ornelas could be the UIF.

Adam Morris also mentioned the possibility of them bringing up Nick Ahmed.

Of course, that means a corresponding 40-man move, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

He’s expected to be back in 7-10 days but the Rangers want to be cautious because it’s early in the season.
