From Jared Sandler:

The Rangers have only had two SP go more than 7.0 IP within the team’s first 10 games of the season TWICE since Colby Lewis (7.1 IP) did it April 12, 2015 vs Houston

Nathan Eovaldi — TONIGHT
Cody Bradford — April 5, 2024 (7.2 IP)

From Shawn McFarland:

Emiliano Teodo struck out four batters in two perfect innings for Triple-A Round Rock Express in their home opener.

He got each strikeout with his slider. The fastball is still fast too.

Round Rock finally won a game but Dunning was terrible and Carter and Harris are struggling. But Foscue, Crim and Freeman are off to a hot start.

Dane Dunning was uncharacteristically wild tonight for Round Rock and only lasted 2 innings. Evan Carter is 0-4 with 3Ks and a walk. He has 1 hit in his first 15 plate appearances thus far.

Eovaldi is a bonafide Ace and still this team's #1 SP until deGrom can make it deep into the season healthy.
TBH, even healthy, it's a toss-up between a healthy deGrom and a hot Eovaldi.
IF both of them can stay healthy, and we get Bradford back healthy and in the rotation, our pitching can go toe to toe with the Dodgers.
Eovaldi-deGrom-Bradford-Leiter-Gray, bring it, LA!
That said, the bats had better start hitting soon, lol.

I suspect Teodo will be used as a relief pitcher this season

This season and next season and several more after that, most likely. His starting days are done, most likely. Santos, Rosario, and Corniell will probably follow along that same line within the next couple of years.

From Jared Sandler:

The last Rangers SP to go at least 8.0 IP within one of his first two starts of the season was Chi Chi Gonzalez on June 5, 2015 vs KC. Chi Chi went 8.0 IP in that game.

So much hype for Chi Chi....I was really hoping that he and Luke Jackson were great, but neither ever really lived up to their billing
