Yes there is. If he's not game ready he shouldn't be put there. If you've ever pitched at even the high school level you know that when you're not right there's literally nothing you can do about it.

Tanner was asked to do his job and he walked the bases loaded. I agree with everything said about Bannister, but I put most of the blame on Tanner even though he shouldn't be out there.

I have pitched. I would blame myself whether I was ready or not. I'm not going to walk 4 batters and think the coach was to blame. Look, I'm the 1st one that said Tanner is not ready, but he was the one out there and was asked to do his job. They are both to blame. I'm sure we can agree on that.

Any athlete worth his salt would blame himself, but that doesn't change the fact that when you're not right there's sometimes not a damn thing you can do about it. It's up to the manager to recognize that.
