Well, we had our chances. we can't have our lead-off hitter going 0-5 and our best hitter going out of the game due to hurting his back while swinging. Give me a fucking break.

Don't know why Torrealba is the only one getting the blame for this one, lots of guys didn't show up to play tonight

Just tired of watching Torrealba kill absolutely every chance we have at a rally every game. I also think he calls a shitty game at the plate.

Agree! That's the most important point. If your backup catcher gets prime time starts they need to be effective defensively and call a good game. Torrealba is a liability in both regards. His lack of offensive output is just the straw.

In 2011 Napoli had a 1.2 point lower CERA than Torrealba. TEX would be better served to sign Benji or Pudge out of retirement as backups or elevate Luis Martinez from AAA. Even if you get zero offensive output at least TEX would have an effective backup catcher.

Torrealba is a black hole millstone around TEX neck. TEX isn't going to resign him for 2013 and provides zero contribution to winning in 2012. Cut him. He's the weakest link on this roster and needs to go. Napoli can't catch more than 100 games and maintain his offensive output ... and if TEX is to get to and deep into the post season ... the team needs better from the guy who will catch 2 months worth of games.

does he make the calls or is he getting them from Maddux? it looked like he was looking toward the dugout before he made the call. either way they sucked

All I know is the trends I see when Torrealba catches anyone but Colby. When he catches holland for example he tries to get Holland to throw the kitchen sink in the first couple innings. Holland doesn't establish any one pitch and is just all over the place, and he doesn't know when to quit calling a pitch. Yes this might be the perfect time for a change up, but he hasn't been able to throw one for a strike all night. Instead of calling for a slider or curve he goes ahead and calls for the change up anyways. Holland never really looks totally confident when Torrealba is behind the plate.

When Napoli catches him he gets him to establish two pitches at the beginning of the game. His fastball and a breaking pitch. Usually his curve ball or his slider, whichever is working, but rarely his change up (which isn't effective enough to be a primary pitch right off the bat usually). Napoli lets Holland's stuff carry him, but saves something for later innings or a jam. Torrealba has him throw it all way too early and I think it never lets him get in the zone.
