I wish more local media and fans would call out the Rangers on their mediocre play over the last 30 games. Many people are all caught up in the Rangers being in first place. The only thing from saving the Rangers from being mentioned in the same breath as the A's and Angels is that torrid 13-3 start. Since then, they're 1 game under .500. With the talent his team has and the lack of injuries, there is no excuse for that.

Since the beginning of last week, the Rangers are a combined 4-6 against Kansas City, Oakland, Houston, and Seattle. In that span the Rangers have been both outhit and outpitched. Against Kansas City, Oakland, Houston, and Seattle, teams with either no hitting, no pitching, or both in the case of Houston.

I know all teams go through rough patches during a long season, but this is getting ridiculous. Had it not been for Josh's monster week, the record could be even worse. The clutch and situational hitting has been virtually nonexistent during the last month, and just about every hitter not named Hamilton or Andrus has been looking lost at the plate. Napoli even admitted it. Young is mired in the worst slump of his career. Nelly and Kinsler are shells of themselves right now. And Murphy, Moreland, Gentry, and Snyder are juggled in and out of the lineup so much, none of them can seem to sustain any kind of real hitting streak. Also, the starting pitching has been very inconsistent. Lewis, Holland, and Harrison can't seem to string together more than 1 or maybe 2 good starts in a row, and even Darvish once again reminded us the other night that he's still a work in progress and not an automatic stud every time he takes the hill.

Simply put, the Rangers seem uninspired and should be winning at least 2 out of 3 against the bottom-feeding teams. With the way LA, Seattle, and to a lesser extent Oakland have been playing, the Rangers should easily have a double-digit lead in the division. Instead, they've been allowing those teams to hang around.

Sorry for such a long message. I'm just really frustrated with our team lately. This team has too much talent to be playing this way. I keep thinking that the next game will be the one that gets them turned back around to playing at least .600 baseball.

Thanks for the really mature welcome to the board. Sorry I didn't get your permission to voice my opinion on the struggles the team has been going through lately. It seems like a few people have succinctly agreed with me right above your post.

I don't bury my head in the sand and just blindly think that everything is just gravy with my favorite team. I called Wash's decision to pinch hit for Moreland the other day a bad one. Thousands, along with many in the national and local media agreed with me. I fail to see how that is "bitching and complaining". And today I posted my concerns with how the team has been playing for almost a month. Do you think that sub-.500 baseball is good? Do you think that a team that is loaded with as much talent as the Rangers should be struggling against the likes of Seattle and Kansas City? If you say yes to either of those, then you need to brush up on your baseball. If you say no like most people would, then you have very little room to criticize my post.

And quit acting like I'm just some negative naysayer who constantly rips on the team. As you pointed out, I have a total of 6 posts. 5 of those discussed the pinch hitting of Moreland. The one today just said that the team has been in a funk for almost a month. Sorry for pointing out the obvious. I posted on the Rangers ESPN forum under a different user name for several years and the vast majority of my posts were of a positive nature. And my posts on here which you call "bitching and complaining" have also included lines about having hope for the team turning it around soon.

From now, I'll only post happy thoughts just so I can appease you, the local message board police. But excuse me if I don't take the time to find really awesome pictures to download and post to tell others off on here.

Hey Stinky! Good to see you again! You were one of my favorite posters on ESPN. My username over there was cingram. Decided to pay homage to one of my favorite Rangers of all time with a new screen name over here. The old ESPN board is pretty much dead now.

I post some causes for concern here and within minutes I get told to STFU. Nice.

I think the day off will do them some good. 20 scheduled days in a row is brutal. The Rangers tend to go on long winning streaks when they're playing loose and having fun. They just don't seem to be playing with the same carefree confidence they did earlier this season. I think if they can just have a few guys snap out of their funks and string together 3 or 4 wins in a row, they could very well be in for another 13-3 run. This .500 stuff is killing me. I'm sure the players aren't too thrilled with it either.

On another note, can you imagine how unbeatable the Rangers would be if all 6 of their top hitters somehow got crazy locked in at the same time? I'm talking ALCS Cruz, Playoffs Napoli, Josh of 2 weeks ago, ALDS Beltre, April Michael Young, etc. Odds are extremely against it all happening at once, but it sure would be something to watch.
