From Jeff Wilson:

Bret Boone’s deal with #Rangers runs through the end of the season and will be revisited then.

Boone is a strange hire. I don't get it at all. Hopefully it works.

But...Brett Boone? Really?

I see his hiring as he is going to oversee/change the way they approach pitchers/certain situations at the plate, in essence having a game plan according to pitchers tendencies instead of going up guessing. I don't think he'll have anything to do with fixing what is wrong with their swing, that will still be Viele/Connors jobs...

I'm not sure how many folks remember back in the 23 ALCS but the game plan against Valdez was to go oppo with his stuff, this allowed them to win both games against him. This is the kind of stuff I'm thinking he's going to do for them and am guessing that's where Ecker failed...

I think he would have a hard time getting certain players to change their swing or stance. Someone asked Semien earlier in the season if he would consider the torpedo bat. He said he wasn’t going to change anything. He said he was going to stick with what he’s been doing.

I am hoping they can buy into a 2 strike and situational hitting approach he praises on his Twitter account

I thought Carter was doing pretty good at AAA. He was only hitting 221.
He had gotten off to a horrendous start, but has hit better over the last 3 to 4 weeks.

.288/.351/.462/.813 since the bad start.
