From Jared Sandler:

Cody Bradford's 10 starts this year

2.40 ERA
54 K
9 BB
.179 BA
.214 OBP
.307 SLG
.521 OPS
He’s really figured it out now. Hoping Leiter will be on a similar path.

Rocker may immediately bust some doors down after being called up with the stuff he has but that remains to be seen. Very excited about his potential major impact.

Okay, here is another fun exercise. Jamey Newberg wrote this earlier, comparing a former Rangers pitcher to prospect, Alejandro Rosario, in 2024. I took the pitchers name out and replaced it with "he." Any guesses on who the other pitcher was?

In his first full season in the minors, he pitched at both Class-A levels and finished the year in Double-A, just as Rosario is doing in his. He posted a 2.27 ERA across the three levels, limiting hitters to a .209/.266/.297 (.563 OPS) slash line and just three home runs allowed. Rosario sits at 2.24, with an opposing line of .207/.243/.273 (.515 OPS). Two hitters have taken him deep.
No takers on this one. The pitcher whose numbers in the minors so closely resemble Rosario's is Derek Holland.

For now I have more hope for Rocker than Leiter.

It looks like Leiter will get 4 more starts. What does he need to show the Rangers for them to have him in their plans for the 2025 rotation?

What about Rocker? Can he show enough in AAA this month for the Rangers to have him in their 2025 rotation plans?

They will need to decide if those guys are going to start off in the rotation next season in order to make wise offseason plans.

They already have plans for deGrom and Bradford, most likely for Mahle too.

Should they go out and spend big on a starting pitcher and decide that no matter how ready Leiter and Rocker look, only one will be allowed to start the season with the Rangers?

my gut says that the Rangers and Eovaldi with work something around the vested option. probably totally wrong but we'll see.

plus, Rocker is only going to get maybe 2 starts at Round Rock before the end of this season so i think they'll want to see him there for at least half of next season and bring him up around the trade deadline

I saw Elvis had his picture made with Wash today. I wonder if Wash tried to get Elvis to square around to bunt.

Leiter has to show consistent improvement to end the year (thinking at least two good to really good outings), and as long as he continues to progress well in Spring Training, he should have a spot in the rotation to start the year. As for Rocker, if he stays on trend I believe he probably starts the season in the rotation along with Leiter. He's dominating at a level that reminds me of Langford last year.
With deGrom, Bradford, Mahle, Leiter, Rocker, Dunning and Gray already on the team, they should only go out and sign a guy that can provide depth while also being able to work as a long reliever. Think Nick Martinez/Jose Urena. That's it.

I think Leiter has a good shot as a SP next year.

Maybe Rocker first man up to preserve his clock

Still remember being at the OF when Elvis was a rookie a little surprised they brought him up to be the OD shortstop

Wash is iconic, that's for sure. I wouldn't ever think of him as legendary, but I know you have a lot of company in doing so.

Did the board take a night off. Quite in here but not much to rave about.
