My #1 off-season priority is bringing back Eovaldi if at all possible...but no more than 3 years/ 66mil.

#2 is making sure Seager, Carter, and Jung are 100% healthy by ST.

#3 is acquiring a legit DH that can also back up at 1st.

#4 is shoring up BP with 2 new additions , trading Leclerc, and seeing if Yates would come back at 2 years/ 16 mil.

I doubt if Yates comes back at 8 million a year, after the season he has had. Probably going to cost 15 to 18 million a year.

Well if there's a team willing to give a 37 year old closer that kind of money then I'm sure he'd take it.

I'd go as high as 10mil/ year but that's it.

The Dodgers or Yankees probably would.

Cody Bradford time again. He'll pitch 7 innings tonight, only giving up 2 runs, while allowing 5 hits, no walks, and getting 8 strikeouts.
Opponents will lay awake at night for fear of Bradford's deadly 89mph fastball.

I think punishing pitchers who hurt batters is long overdue. This is from an article on The Athletic:

A day after he was hit in the back of the head by a 95 mph fastball, Atlanta Braves veteran Whit Merrifield predicted the MLB Competition Committee he serves on will have a rule in place by next season with penalties for pitchers who hit batters with similar high-and-inside fastballs.

He is among many players who want a rule punishing pitchers for plunking hitters with fastballs that break hands and wrists or hit players in the head or neck. He said the committee was quite receptive.

“Yeah, we’ll have something in place by the time the season starts next year,” Merrifield said. “I’d be shocked if we didn’t.”
I referenced as the Josh Jung rule

So in 60 innings of work as a Starter this year, Bradford boasts a 2.40 ERA with roughly a 0.80 WHIP, with 54 Ks to only 9 walks.
We've finally developed a really good starting pitcher, folks - with Leiter and Rocker soon to be added to the list.
Tides are turning.

On the 10th anniversary of the resignation of Ron Washington, this year's Tim Bogar effect is in full swing. Lol

The Rangers' probable starting pitcher for Friday vs. LAA is RHP Gerson Garabito

From Evan Grant:

Jacob deGrom pitches for Frisco on Saturday; Max Scherzer pitches for Round Rock on the same day. Minor leaguers will eat well

Is Max hoping he can audition for a new contract with another team next year because as far as I am concerned I really do not want to see him pitch for the Rangers the remainder of this year.

From Evan Grant:

Even Bradford, who averages 90 mph with his fastball, was a little spooked when he looked up at the scoreboard early in the game and saw an “88.” Made him a little bit nervous about the fastball, though his instincts told him that with a three-run lead courtesy of Adolis García’s first-inning homer, he should be more aggressive with the pitch. He momentarily got away from it in the second and third on the way to a pair of walks and the lone run he allowed before being steered back by pitching coach Mike Maddux and catcher Jonah Heim.

When it was done, Bradford had thrown the fastball 51 times (57%) in 90 pitches. He reached a maximum velocity of 89.7 mph. Wouldn’t even raise an eyebrow on that stretch of Highway 130 between Austin and Seguin. He averaged 88.5 mph, making it the lowest average velocity for a pitcher who threw at least 50 four-seamers in a game this year, according to Baseball Savant. The Angels’ Tyler Anderson, at 88.7 mph, had the previous low among 370 outings in which a pitcher heaved at least 50 fastballs.

For Bradford, who keeps meticulous prep notes in a leather-bound notebook, there was something worth jotting down after the fact.

“You’ve just got to trust your stuff,” said Bradford, who retired the last 10 batters he faced. “Today, I noticed a two-strike pitch at 88 and I think that caused me to get away from my fastball early in the game. I let a number on an electronic scoreboard dictate how I pitch. And that’s unexpected. I came back in and Mike and Jonah said ‘‘Hey, appreciate your preparation, but lets read the swings here. They are not on the fastball.’ And they weren’t. So we went back to attacking them with it.”

This is one of the things the Rangers like most about Bradford, to go along with his command: His ability to adjust in game. It’s helped keep him in starts when trouble arose. And it is quickly convincing the Rangers that he is a starter more than a swing man. They went into the last offseason thinking the latter, but Bradford has changed their minds.

Bradford lowered his ERA for the season to 3.05, but that’s skewed by a bad relief outing in his return from three months on the IL. In 10 starts, it’s 2.40. He’s not really a strikeout guy, but his strikeout-to-walk rate is an astounding 6-to-1. He’s held hitters to a .177 batting average.

“You have to say that,” Bochy said when asked if Bradford had changed the Rangers’ opinion about his future. “You always look at where you are at [with roster construction], but you can’t get away from what he’s doing every start. I don’t think he’s going anywhere right now.”
