How good could we be if we get our starters healthy and the offense starts clicking?

Josh Smith only got out once, but he only swung at one pitch in 4 plate appearances. Lol

7-2 with 3 starting pitchers out now and Jung. But it will be tough sledding when Rocker and Corbin pitch unless Rocker can get back to what he was doing last year.
I am not good at being patient at times so seeing Seager struggle is hard but I know it's in his nature to get on a roll. Just want to see it now. LOL!

Yeah, I can take it with Seager because of his history.

It appears the Rangers have taken some of my advice and given Evan Carter and few days off. From what I understand he is supposed to play tomorrow.
About time they took your advice!!!

Degrom is who he is and that is fine. I am tired of the media going on and on about how great he is, though. After they fawned all over him in spring training I thought he was going to get off to a fantastic start.

He is a really good pitcher, but not who the media portrays him to be.
He didn’t seem to spit his FB well and Rays wore at him spoiling pitches

Brock Porter pitched an inning in relief for Hickory and struck out the side while allowing only a hit batter.

Need the bats to come alive and win some high scoring games methinks

This guy actually sounds like he was a really good pick for the slot he was drafted at.

3B

Rafe Perich

Lehigh
HOMETOWN: New Tripoli, PA
HEIGHT: 6-3
WEIGHT: 220
BAT/THROW: B-R
A three-year starter at Lehigh as a two-way player, Perich saw his offensive game explode in 2024 with added power and an approach that looked pro-ready. Perich has an old-school setup with low hands and a bit of a crouch over the plate. He loads the barrel deep behind his shoulder and lags the barrel creating whip and considerable bat speed. It's almost an identical swing from both sides and scouts believe he's got a shot to switch-hit because of it. Perich is a polished hitter who has walked more than he's struck out in 2024. He boasts high walk rates and low strikeout rates, supported by contact and chase rates that dwarf most of the rest of the country. The raw power is real with exit velos measuring north of 114 mph at times. It is an obscure swing, but it's worked and there's very few moving parts. He is a below average runner with long strides and generally slow foot speed. Defensively, Perich has a strong internal clock and generally showcases fundamental footwork and technique at the hot corner. He moves well around the dirt and has at becoming an solid average defensive third baseman. One critique scouts have had on his play is he tends to double-pump his throws across the diamond, likely a bad habit formed over time. The throwing arm is double-plus with huge carry when he reaches back for it, though sometimes he'll over-throw when not necessary. It's something of an Alec Bohm look at the position. The tools are certainly present. Perich and his unconventional offensive approach and budding defensive tools has a chance to go reasonably early on day two and could sneak into the 3-5 round range
Perich is off to a good start this season. 4 for 9 with a 2B, a HR and a walk.

Scott Lucas had this to say about him in ST:

March 19 - 3B Rafe Perich, last year’s seventh-rounder out of Lehigh, has been solid, ignoring the wilder entries of young hurlers for walks, lining a single, and I heard about (but didn’t see) a triple. Perich drew eight walks in 33 trips to the plate for low-A Down East late last year. If I showed you a picture of him and said “guess the position,” you’d say third base or right field. He just looks the part.

March 23 - Among those I saw frequently, 2024 seventh-round 3B Rafe Perich continued to impress, again giving me tedious video of bad pitch after bad pitch ignored for a ball. The downside is we probably won’t really know much about him until he reaches AA and faces pitchers with more consistent control. He did exhibit some impressive line-drive swings, so I don’t want to suggest he’s nothing but eye.

Good relief work in Frisco tonight from both Robby Ahlstrom and Skylar Hales. A solid start from Mitch Bratt, as well.
