Let's see if the Rangers can recover against the lowly A's.

Let the Evan Carter era begin.

It seems something has mentally effected this team. Not sure they can recover but certainly hope so. Wouldn't it be nice to have a sit down question and answer session with some players?

I don’t think even they know or understand what’s happening or could express it in words. Watch them before the games they just stand around on the field and in the dugout they just have blank looks on their faces. There’s not the same camaraderie and playfulness.

I remember prior to Banny being fired there was some talk from some in the media, about some problems in the clubhouse. To me, from the outside, that seems to be the case much more now, than it did when Banny was here.

I think so too. Obvious Bochy mistakes may have effected the guys. I said earlier, players see and know what we know.

Braden Montgomery is someone to keep an eye on if the Rangers pick in the 17-18 range in next year's draft. Last month he announced that he is transferring from Stanford to Texas A&M.

This report is from Prospexts Live:

BRADEN MONTGOMERY, OF/RHP, TRANSFER PORTAL, YARMOUTH-DENNIS RED SOX

Regular season final line: .340/.429/.472, 5 XBH, 16 K, 9 BB over 63 PA

While Montgomery didn’t fare particularly well in the two games I saw him, his track record and reviews were too good to leave him out of this article. The switch-hitting two-way player possesses an advanced toolset on both sides of the ball. Offensively, his selective approach led him to a 16.5 BB% at school. He crushes fastballs, rarely whiffing at them and often taking advantage of pitchers’ mistakes in the zone. Velocity is no issue for him either, as he hits better against fastballs above 90 MPH than he does below. Breaking balls give him slightly more trouble, but the difference between his production versus fastballs and breakers is not enough to concern me. This approach combined with his plus-plus raw power is what makes his bat such a commodity. He consistently posts elite exit velocities and projects to be an above-average power hitter at the highest level. While this is all stellar, his arm strength is even more impressive. It’s an 80-grade arm in the outfield that would play in the big leagues right now. He moves well, but is likely destined for a corner long-term as he adds weight. Not to mention, he can also pitch. He’s ramped it up to 96 MPH this summer with a gyro slider and, when thrown correctly, a changeup with a ton of horizontal movement. His command is inconsistent, but the tools are there to develop him as a pitcher if he doesn’t pan out as a hitter. Overall, Montgomery is one of the most talented players in the NCAA and should be announcing his new school in the near future. He could be a top pick in next year’s draft with continued development.

So, what are we hoping to get out of Evan Carter in the team's last 23 games? I am hoping for the following.

Games starting: 17
Plate Appearances: 68
Average: .250
Doubles: 2
Triples: 1
HR: 1
SO: 12
BB: 6
SB: 3

think we bring in a good hitting of'er this off season: maybe Bellinger. opening day of should be Carter, Bellinger & Garcia with Langford coming up after the trade deadline. then Langford, Carter & Bellinger. should be but probably won't happen

The tough question is how do you bridge to Langford without either blocking him with a guy like Bellinger or taking the same tact as this year in LF.

If you think Langford is more likely to be ready for 2025, then you could sign Bellinger and then wait until a little over a year from now and either trade Garcia or Lowe. I don't think you trade either one of those guys during a season when you are in a pennant race. Trading them in the offseason would go over better in the clubhouse.

If you think Langford will be ready in the first half of 2024, you might want to start next year with Leody in the OF. Now, Duran could improve his game enough in the offseason to influence rhat decision as well, but that remains to be seen.

One thing Bellinger could do is push Lowe to DH or to the trade block since he plays 1B and OF.

Of course, just because some of us on the board like Bellinger, that doesn't mean the Rangers will sign him or even attempt to pursue him.

One thing that could happen is the Rangers trade for an OF who only has a year left before free agency.

In 2025 I wouldn't mind seeing a lineup that includes Carter, Langford and Ortiz. In 2026 we could add Walcott to that.

Don't leave Vargas and Guitterez out of the conversation, as well.

Some team is going to really like what they get with Crim as well, but most likely it won't be us.

If and when we are eliminated from postseason, would definitely have some of these guys up here evaluating them. Whats to lose?

Bellinger has probably priced himself out of the Rangers reach. Some team will overpay him. Just don't see us backing up the truck for a 1b/dh .

I doubt we get eliminated before the last week of the season, though.

If they fix the bullpen right, they most likely won't have anything in the budget left for offense.

With the bull pen fixed right, more wins will come. Not saying we don't need OF bats.
