Jung has been doing better laying off the low and outside pitches today.
I would say go for it. No other player like him.
I think it’s premature to give up on deGrom at this point.
Only if he learns to remake himself and backoff from throwing 100 all the time, very few pitchers can consistently throw that hard and have decent/long careers. Throwing that hard really isn't needed when you have the control he does, he just needs to be a bit more cerebral in his approach (like Maddox and Gibson). Gibson had the best ERA of any season (in the modern era) by what you would consider to be a hard thrower and I'd bet he very seldom if ever cracked 95, he dominated inside. Maddox probably hardly ever got to 94 and dialed that back to upper 80s routinely so that he could dominate on both corners... (And yes DeGrom had about the 3rd best ERA season in the modern era)...He very likely won’t be able to live up to the $$ and years involved, but I think he can still be a very viable top of rotation guy for 2-3 years.
I thought about that but being day to day, but likely not unleee understatedI wonder if they will be tempted to bring up Acuna.
It sure looked worse than a sprained thumb
The way he was carrying himself and his arm and hand I expected at minimum a broken hand or at least the thumb brokenI did mine diving for a ball over 30 years ago and it still bothers me off and on now, especially when trying to open the drivers door on the F150...

My right hand fingers are not model friendly due to baseball injuries back in the day —Jams and breakI did mine diving for a ball over 30 years ago and it still bothers me off and on now, especially when trying to open the drivers door on the F150...
The only 2 things I can remember doing was my left thumb and pulling a hamstring the last game before the playoffs, other than that just bruises here and there no broken bones...My right hand fingers are not model friendly due to baseball injuries back in the day —Jams and break
You play hard and you get injured
I don't know about never but Verlander was instrumental in the Astros winning. And how many other great players never pushed their team over the top to win a WS???
Bullseye. But make it a couple of themIt is time to pull the trigger on a trade for a reliever.
I can imagine once the pain and shock wore off that Seager fought long and hard to be in the lineup today
