never played fantasy baseball (many years playing football) but the once a week line-up I can do.

I'm sure I'd be a weak link to the league but will offer my services if you remain in a bind. No problem if you find another.

When I try it just times out and say's page can't be found. I went to Yahoo direct, logged in without difficulty, went to join a league at the 9;30 draft time and didn't see a listing for you boys.


I'm not the most computer literate and I'm sure it's me.
Is there a league name I could search for?

Sure, I'll be happy to help. Each week (probably on Sunday night), you will select 1 catcher, 1 1B, 1 2B, 1 SS, 1 3B, 1 Corner Infielder, 1 Middle Infielder, 4 OF, 1 Utility hitter (can be any position), and 9 pitchers (any combination of starters or closers, your choice) to start from your team. The rest of your players will sit out on the bench for the entire week. Since we're playing with weekly changes, you can only set your lineup once before Monday. Once the games begin on Monday, your starting lineup is locked for the entire week. Any changes you make to your lineup after the first pitch on Monday will be reflected in the following week. So you can change your lineup throughout the week, but those changes won't become active until the following Monday.

Bottom line is that you want to set your lineup for the week based on which players will get you the most points (based on our scoring system, located in the Scoring and Settings link on the main page). You'll want to keep your top guys, players like Trout, Cabrera, Beltre, etc. always active unless they're injured. The only real lineup decisions you'll have to make involve your lesser players. For instance, let's say you have 2 SS on your roster. One of them is scheduled for 7 games against weak starting pitchers while the other only has 6 scheduled games and they're mostly against top pitchers. You'll probably start the first guy then. There's a million ways though to choose who you start. Maybe you've got a Dodger who hits better on the road and the Dodgers have 7 road games upcoming. Just go with your gut feeling.

As for the pitchers, it's entirely up to you there as well. You can start all 9 starting pitchers, all 9 closers, or some combination of both. Go with who you think might get the most wins or saves. A closer might get 3 saves while a starter might only get one win. But strikeouts and innings pitched count as points too, so starters and closers often finish with similar points under this scoring system. It's all about what players and what teams you think are due for a good week.

At least once this season, you will have a hitter or pitcher get injured on like a Tuesday. At that point, you just have to grin and bear it while you earn 0 points at that position for the rest of the week. It sucks when it happens to you, but it's nice when it happens to your opponent. So there definitely is some luck involved. It's better to have guys get injured for you on the weekend because by that point they've accumulated some points for you since Monday. We have 3 DL spots on our rosters. If your player gets hurt and his team puts him on the DL, you can then move him to the DL slot on your roster and pick up a replacement player from the Free Agent pool for you to use the following week. So if you have McCann get injured, maybe you pick up Soto to fill in while McCann is out.

Lastly, if you have 15 minutes of free time this weekend before our draft, you can join a practice mock draft on the Yahoo Fantasy Baseball main page. You won't actually get to keep the team you pick because it's just a mock for practice, but it will give you an idea of how the online draft room works. It might also give you an idea of when you might need to pick guys before they're gone. You don't have to stay for the entire mock draft either. You can just practice for the first few rounds and then quit if you'd like.
