Also, I believe Texas has some protection in the event that Kluber falls apart in '20.

if traded in 2020, 2021 option converts to a vesting option guaranteed if Kluber has 160 innings pitched in 2020 and is not on the disabled list at the end of the 2020 season
So, if he doesn't get to 160, or is on the DL at the end of the season, Rangers can pull the ripcord on the 2020 option and there's only a $1MM buyout.
Agree, but at his price and JD's willingness to work on reclamation projects I think even if Kluber has a worse year than 2019 he's still staying here based on his contract.
And I think Delino is the type of guy who a change of scenery might motivate him to be more patient at the plate. Every time he has been sent down or benched he responds well.
