I think Mahle is in there ahead of Bradford. As fat as after deGrom comes back, during the regular season, it is hard to say who the 5th guy will be. Between now and then a lot could change, but it is hard for me to see Bochy sticking with the young guy over that many veterans.

It will be a lot of fun to see who pitches the best between now and then.
I guess based on what Bradford has done I am not seeing that. Of course it depends if he continues to do well and I am not thinking he keeps doing exactly what he has done so far because that would be CY worthy. But in 19 innings he has a 1.40 ERA and just 2 walks. I can't see Mahle topping that.
My guess it would be deGrom, Eovaldi, Bradford, Scherzer and Dunning or Mahle. If Scherzer goes back on the DL which would not surprise me then Dunning and Mahle slot in. Gray and Heaney are in the pen.

Lorenzen factors in somewhere as well.

I agree about Scherzer. I am not sure he can make it much more than a couple of months without getting hurt again.

I hope you are right. I am a huge fan of Bradford's. I look forward to a rotation next year that includes Dunning, Bradford and Leiter.

From Evan Grant:

Sborz will throw a bullpen session on Saturday and is eligible to return as early as Tuesday when the Rangers open a series against Seattle. It’s uncertain if the team would consider activating him without a rehab outing or two. Scherzer threw a two-inning simulated game on Friday and could begin a rehab assignment as early as next week, which probably puts him on a mid-to-late-May schedule for return. Bradford, who had a cortisone injection in his back earlier this week, is eligible to return on April 26 but probably will need a bit longer.

Also from Evan Grant:

“I also feel like we’re really close to being in a great spot,” general manager Chris Young said Friday. “I think in a few weeks, we could be in a really good spot. We’re in the toughest stretch of our season with a 17-game stretch. And we’ve intentionally kind of turned over the pitching a little bit to try to protect our guys. I think we’ll get through this. We’ll have some off days to play with and we’ll be able to build in rest and recovery days for guys.”

The situation was made a bit more complex by the recent injuries to Church and Kelly. Both were considered possibilities for the opening day roster and were in consideration for early callups. Kelly has not pitched since April 7, however, and was placed on the IL last weekend at Triple-A Round Rock. His injury is not considered long-term. The Rangers believe, though, that Church will need more time to deal with his shoulder strain, though surgery is not considered an option.

Jordan Montgomery pitched 6 innings and gave up 4 hits, 1 run, 3 K's and 0 walks. He was outstanding for us in many high level situations. I wish there would have been a way to have signed him.
