I'd like the Sox to try to sign Giolitto to an extension. He's a solid 2nd tier pitcher - who knows how to pitch and maintain control. Of course, he may think he deserves 1st tier pitching money.

It sure couldn't hurt making an attempt to ink Giolito to an extension, but I suspect he'll prefer testing the open market and perhaps rightfully so. He picked the perfect year to finally bring some much needed consistency to his game. Pitchers that more often than not give a solid 6 innings per start are a valuable commodity. He'll definitely have suitors.

I really like your 'sell' and 'keep' lists, well thought out and it wouldn't surprise me if the brass pretty much follows this blueprint.

So the Good Guys take another SS with their first pick in the draft. From CBS Sports:

He's been a steady performer, but he never quite took the step forward that scouts wanted, causing him to slip on upside concerns. The guy I was hoping for, C Kyle Teel of Virginia, was taken one pick before us by those 'other' Sox. Damn! We're in dire need of help at the catcher's spot, altho who knows with the brain deads who run our organization if we would have taken him even if he was still on the board. Anyway, hope this kid pans out even tho we took two SS/INF with our first two picks in '21. Something tells me Timmay will be an ex-Sox at some point down the road.

Not sure why the article starts off incorrectly that the Sox are 12 back from Cleveland, unless the writer has a crystal ball and can see how far back we'll be at the deadline.

i see no good reason ANY of those 4 shouldn't be considered moveable. nobody on this team is even close to being untouchable! i know the sox won't do the smart thing and sell ,.... or change management ... or even THINK about fixing their minor system. they also won't clear out most of the team (which they should). no reason to hold onto robert, eloy or the disappointing vaughn (he should have shined this year). even cease can go ... now ... while he's worth something. give him another year like this and he's just another arm. and don't even mention anderson.
dump these losers and start building from the ground up ...... again! and try doing it the right way. no 5 year contracts to kids. teach them how to stay healthy.
i'm also finally convinced hahn should go too, tho i still think kenny is running the show. this is why we need to somehow dump the p.o.s. owner who has been possibly the worst ever. long as he runs the show, fans will suffer.

We’re cheap. That’s why we hired some nobody out of KC. I mean, sometimes stuff like that works out…so that’s the best we could hope for. Just a disaster all around so done worrying about the multitude of details.

Happy we just took two straight as well as the series against the team with the best record in Baseball, altho it really doesn't diminish the disappointment that has been our 2023 season. But if I had to rank from a neutral standpoint two teams that have been even more disappointing then the Good Guys, it would have to be the Padres and the Mets, the latter of which will be our next series opponents. Granted, each club's record is better than ours, altho not by much. But they were put together with a lot of proven talent designed to go deep into the postseason, yet there's a strong possibility that neither will even make it. Doesn't really make me feel any better about our sucky season, other than perhaps to know we Sox fans aren't alone in our misery this year.

Have no idea what our shit-for-brains front office is planning, but sadly this team is in need for another overhaul. I might stop a touch short of saying we need to completely clean house, but hopefully there'll be some key time trades coming out of 35th & Shields by the deadline.
