Team pays RB

Half of fantasy Twitter: looks like they're going to lighten his load now that they've paid him, they want to protect their investment

Other half: wheels up baby!!! They're gonna run him into the ground these next 2 seasons to get their money's worth

I'm starting to lean into the viewpoint of the wheels up side. We're seeing the careers wind down from a generational RB class ('17), and i think the ones still atop a depth chart will continue to get fed until the wheels fall off

Agreed.
RB's may have finally begun being valued in terms in contract $$.. but it's still a known short term investment, so they're going to get whatever they can, for a long as they can, and then they'll invest in the next short term answer.

They aren't picking 2022 Chubb up off the streets, he's 30 and destroyed his knee 2yrs ago.

Looks like the rookie they drafted isn't any good or they wouldn't be bringing Chubb in for backup duties

I expect if it happens it's an incentive-laden one-year contract and he's used to mix in ahead of Pierce, with Marks left on the back burner unless he passes Pierce. I also expect things to look very different come December.
