St. Louis Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers - Recap - November 11, 2012 - ESPN

Research Notes

Colin Kaepernick has displayed a strong arm early in his career, completing 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) passes traveling more than 10 yards downfield for 169 yards and nine first downs without an interception. The league average completion percentage since he joined the league on such throws is 47.5 percent.

Colin Kaepernick struggled to move the 49ers offense on his first three drives of the game, as they ran 13 plays for 42 yards, including four rushes for 14 yards. The 49ers found more success as they re-committed to the running game on their final five drives, rushing 13 times for 72 yards and two touchdowns.

This 93-yard drive is the longest TD drive allowed by the 49ers since Week 15 of 2009 vs the Eagles (94 yards). It is the longest TD drive by the Rams since Week 15 of 2008 vs the Seahawks (97 yards).

Smith sustained concussion on sneak

The 49ers did not have a No. 3 quarterback in uniform. Scott Tolzien is the 49ers' third quarterback but he was declared one of the team's seven inactive players.

Nobody seemed to know who would've entered at quarterback if a replacement were needed for Kaepernick. Crabtree, who played quarterback at David W. Carter High School in Dallas, said he "hopes" he would've gotten the call, if needed.

49ers-Rams tie; more Week 10 thoughts - Peter King - SI.com

A little before noon Pacific Time, as the San Francisco crowd began to settle in their seats, fans in the lower bowl at Candlestick Park were treated to an odd display. Two Rams starters in sweat clothes, cornerback Janoris Jenkins and wide receiver Chris Givens, both rookies, began sprinting up and down the stairs in one section of the stands, supervised by assistant strength coach Adam Bailey. How odd, the fans with trays of Gordon Biersch craft beers and garlic fries reporting for the game must have thought. What are these Rams doing running the stairs at this hour? Shouldn't they be stretching for the game, or doing something down on the field?

"It was two-fold,'' said Rams coach Jeff Fisher, who suspended Jenkins and Givens for an unspecified violation of team rules Saturday. "They weren't going to play, so they needed a workout. And I guess you can say it was part punitive. We still have to sort some things out about what happened, but hopefully this helps them get the message.''
