The Rams sure did get a nice group of UDFA's. RB Green from TCU was a really good player. All the rookie WRs are going to be fun to watch in competition.

I know Mannion will look better than Goff come Sept. Who knows who starts, but if the Rams give whoever the QB is the same protection they gave Foles last year - you better hope it's not Goff taking those shots from opposing defenses.

Agree SJ, I also like the UDFA's and get rid of some of the baggage we been carrying. I also think if the Rams can just get over the hump, there will be a lot of players wanting to come to LA to play.

Rapoport: Goff signs with Rams - Video

The Los Angeles Rams locked up No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff.

The quarterback signed his four-year contract Thursday, the team announced. As with all first-round contracts under this collective bargaining agreement, the deal comes with a fifth-year option.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported the contract is worth $27.9 million over the first four years, along with an $18.6 million signing bonus.

L.A. got the deal done ahead of next week's conclusion of the offseason program, which will enable the starting quarterback to participate fully without outside distractions.

Goff is expected to earn the starting quarterback gig. The Cal grad already owns better accuracy and arm talent than the heap of middling signal-callers clogging the Rams' roster.

NFL Media's Steve Wyche added the Rams put their rookies through a multi-week, life-skills training program -- which includes financial management -- before signing them to their deals.

Los Angeles shipped a boatload of picks to Tennessee for the right to draft Goff and place him as the starting quarterback, face of the franchise and cornerstone. For Jeff Fisher's perennially 7-9 squad, which lacked a functional quarterback, the rookie is seen as the missing piece to finally getting over the hump.

Whether that happens in 2016 or takes him a couple years to integrate into the league, Goff owns the talent and mental acumen to become a successful NFL quarterback -- hopefully leading the Rams out of their spell of mediocrity.

Putting pen to paper is the first step in that journey.

Here's more on the Rams' 2016 Rookie signings...

600x360-Rookie-Profile-1.jpg

Goff, receivers Pharoh Cooper and Mike Thomas, tight ends Tyler Higbee and Temarrick Hemingway and linebacker Josh Forrest signed their rookie contracts at the team's football headquarters in Oxnard. The team announced the signings via Twitter.

The rest of the league had already signed most of its draft class, but the Rams do things a little differently in an effort to educate their rookies before handing over large sums of money.

The Rams have been holding a sort of "rookie school" since the group arrived after the draft. La'Roi Glover, the team's director of player programs, brought in experts to offer seminars on money management, buying or renting a home and other important life skills.

This year's education also included some help from the league, which dispatched representatives to each NFL city to give more personalized attention to each team than the annual rookie symposium could provide.

There isn't much drama to rookie deals since the new collective bargaining agreement came into effect in 2011 and the rookie salary cap was put in place. The contracts are essentially slotted and there's little room for negotiation, which means it's not all that difficult to get deals done. That's why most other teams are able to quickly sign their rookies after the draft.

In the past few years, the Rams have traditionally signed their rookie class at some point in mid-June. They signed their 2013 group on June 13 and the 2014 and 2015 classes on June 12.

I say Mannion will be the starter for the season until he gets hurt and then we may see Keenum or Goff. Hopefully this will be at least at game 8 but the way our O-line is progressing, it could be quicker, Vita. What is your prediction?

Case through Week 4, Goff Week 5 through playoffs.

Rams carry only two QB's in 2017, Goff and Mannion.

Alright guys! .....Where will Nick Foles end up? ....Thoughts

I say San Fran will snatch him after we cut him!
Then we will have to deal with him 2 times a season!

My random guess will be that he backs up Luck in Indy.

If anyone thinks our defense is going to be less than it was with Laurinaitus and Long as well as McCleod and Jenkins, I don't see any decrement at all. In fact, if you listen to Gregg Williams, we are going to be freaky fast and pretty stout to boot. Check it out.

I think I have stated all along that Alexander was going to compete for the starting position to replace McCleod. It was just a matter of time.
