So all that talk from Kupp about not needing to reset the WR market was just that- talk.

75M guaranteed is resetting the WR market Cooper.

And, I have lost some respect for both Kupp and Donald with wanting new contracts when you still have multiple seasons left on your current contract. It’s a bunch of crap frankly.

It’s one thing to want a new contract when you are in your last year. It’s quite another to want a new one when you have 3 years left, and threaten retirement if you don’t get your way.

It’s not like the Rams we’re paying these guys chump change. Donald was already the highest paid DT in NFL history. And Kupp had just played under the 1st year on his 4 year contract he had signed previously.

It was bound to happen, at least he's 6th highest and not highest. They will just navigate through it

Also you have to consider, the team being in LA attracting future free agents is important. Rams can't look cheap in a sense.

Agreed, but they can’t afford FA’s when when they keep paying top dollar for their guys.

There is a reason the Pats were a dynasty for 20 years. They never did this crap. They always got guys to sign below market contracts “for the team” and traded the guys who weren’t “bought in” to the team for other players/picks to keep the dynasty rolling.

At best, the Rams will have a 3-4 year window before the cap situation comes to a head. The way they structure the contracts to be back loaded to free cap space now will put them in cap hell sooner rather than later.

Donald’s contract has 2 years added onto it to stretch the cap where presumably he will be retired and they will still be paying him.

This was always going to happen, and there will be a restructure with bonus money to open up cap space (like the Donald deal), likely for Odell.

The Rams do this to continue to open up cap space in the near future and take the cap hit in the future (where the cap is forecasted to continue to increase). As long as we don't have another pandemic shut things down and slow the cap increases, this is pretty smart.

McShit-fer-Brains are over-thinking things again along with Morris. This guy will probably be back just as Deayon will be eventually signed because Deayon has not signed with anyone else. So they just hang around until there is an opening and then they are brought back. Howard is the same.

Well, here is the real reason they cut Howard and ALR has been corroborated. They are taking someone else's salary to pay these greedy bastards. That money has to come from some where and this is what McShit-Fer-Brains are now doing.

The money has to come from somewhere.

This isn’t monopoly.

And we lose a good quality depth/spot starter as a result.

I hope Kupp and Donald enjoy their money because the team is going to end up weaker as a result.

And here I thought those two were team guys.

Team guys until they all win the Snooperbowl and then all that "team guys" shit goes out the window. Now everyone wants to get P-A-I-D! or so they say. The interpretation: I want all the bucks and eff everyone else.

I wonder if McShit-fer-Brains have any second thoughts about letting Sony Michel meander over to the Dolphins when their prized smallish drafted RB now had foot surgery to which he is now rehabbing just like all the rest of the mini-backs the Rams have except for Jake Funk and Buddy Howell who is the only big Back the Rams have back on the camp roster?

I question that, since OverTheCap has the Rams with $7.6M in cap space. Those two deals actually lowered the cap hits of Donald and Kupp this season.

This is how the Rams signed Stafford, Donald, and Kupp and yet saved $13.7 mil THIS YEAR in their cap hit. They used the signing bonus option THIS YEAR to reduce the cap hit THIS YEAR and then pushed the actual salary being paid under the new deals out until 2024.

The proverbial “kicking the can down the road” narrative.

The Rams better hope the cap goes up big time by 2024 or they are going to be hurting.

The belief that smallish RBs that are faster and are of greater utility has begun to backfire on McShit-fer-Brains. Henderson is entrering his third season with the distinct possibility of going under the knife as he has a re-occuring soft tissue damage that is not healing in his knees and lower extremity joints.

The healthy backs we have right now include Funk, a big back in Howell, Akers, Calais, and Jones with the last three coming off seasons of injury and are suspect at best. Henderson maybe facing an entire season on IR as his soft tissue chronic condition is similar to what Beckham had corrected in his knee.

This is what pisses me off about McShit-Fer-Brains. Ignoring convention and NFL reality, they by-passed big or bigger backs throughout the draft to take a back who is the same smallish, faster back only to find that he is injury prone just like all the rest of them except Howell. I'll just refer to it as the Atwell disease.

Speaking of whom, Shit-fer-Brains number 2 has this idea in his head that adding some muscle on Atwell is suddenly going to cure his tendency to be prone to injuries. McShit-fer-Brains continually cites all of the impressiveness Atwell is demonstrating with the additional weight and his performances so far in May-based OTAs. The hope is he will be O.K. but others are calling McShit-fer-Brains out on his fantasy-based belief system about micro players.

Atwell is one NFL game-scenario-collision away from spending another year on IR. His chnaces are so much higher because of his micro stature, yet McShit-fer-Brains continually ignores the rigor, conventions, and reality of a full NFL season on bigger bodies let alone a guy like Atwell.

My suspicion here is McShit-fer-Brains does not want to admit in public that he and Snead effed-things up pretty badly two years ago when we had a Second Round draft pick and instead of waiting to the Fourth Round to take Atwell's minature ass, they jumped all over him ignoring Creed Humphrey at Center who will continue to be a periennial All-Pro.

So, again, we shall see how this continues to play-out this season as the Rams try to repeat as Snooperbowl champs. I suspect they are going to regret letting Sony Michel walk and the these two will then have to sacrifice another draft pick or picks to cover their descrepancies at RB about halfway through the season.
