And guess where John Johnson is going to go in FA?
Staley went to a good situation.
they already have their franchise QB, and some good defensive players he can work with ( they haven’t even had their star safety for the past 2 seasons ).
and they have a high draft pick to build the roster more.
they get to play in the same stadium and he doesn’t have to move.
I still think Bieniemy will be fine. There's still a few jobs available out there if he's interested and they're interested in him. I was surprised that the Chargers went with a defensive minded coach instead of an offensive minded one like Bieniemy or Bills OC Brian Daboll like they were rumored to be pursuing.Still think it's crazy the Chargers hired Staley instead of another amazingly talented coach who they drafted as a player(Eric Bieniemy)... Not just saying this because I'm annoyed losing him(which I am) but Bieniemy deserves a HC job over a guy who has had one year of success like Staley.
Part of Staley's hiring comes from the fact that the current GM and Staley went to the same college, also Staley coached at his alma mater before making the leap to the NFL, so yeah a guy that interned, had 1 OLB coaching job, 1 yr as DC gets to leap to a head coach. That's at least part of what i heard/read.I still think Bieniemy will be fine. There's still a few jobs available out there if he's interested and they're interested in him. Morris would be the pick IMO. He would be a nice hire.Word is the Rams and McVay are targeting someone who worked under Staley or the new target is Raheem Morris. Check it out.
