LTRF and UVA. With a little good fortune. Staley may stay except for the Chargers job. He has a family and does not want to move again just one year after moving his family to LA. So the Chargers job may be the one that takes him because all he has to do is walk across the hall. Another intangible factor may come to play here.

That being, he likes McVay and may just decide to stay based on the notion he has a lot of say in how he runs his D and now McVay is going to be whistling in his ear to stay which may do the trick. If the money is really big with the Chargers, little or nothing will probably keep him with the Rams.

The update on the coaching carousel is as follows. The top candidates for the six teams looking for a HC are the big three followed by further down-the-listors. The Big Three are: Eric Bieniemy, OC, Chiefs, Urban Meyer, HC, Ohio State, Brian Daboll. OC, Bills. The further-down-the listers are: Proven team rebuilders, Jim Caldwell and Marvin Lewis; Newbies, Joe Brady, Matt Eberflus, and Arthur Smith. No where on this prognosticated list is Brian Staley.

Because Staley is not in the forefront of the list sought by those six teams (sort of under-the-radar and quiet at this point), we may luck out and actually get to keep Staley for another year to which the Rams should extend his contract for five years or more. The Jets and Chargers expressed some interest but now those teams are switching gears to the Big Three and some of the others.

I sure hope we get to keep Staley for a long time because our D is very stout and studley!!

Yeah Retro, I saw that too this morning... was thinking of making a similar post about it, but ya ninja'd me! LOL

I think before teams start to look at him seriously, he needs to put in a little more time, after all this is Staley's 1st year as a DC and only 2 years as the Outside Linebackers Coach in Chicago and a year in the same role in Denver.

Couple that with the fact that Brandon has the luxury of having arguably the best 2 Defensive Players in the League I'm guessing the League will shy away for at least another year.

But you are right Retro, Demoff needs to get Kronke to open up that check book and get this dude signed to a long term $$$ deal pronto!!!

It's a little long, but a pretty good read on Staley...

As far as the Chargers go, I think they want an offensive minded HC to help their second year signal caller, and the Jets have been there and done that, taking a shot on a talented 46 year old DC with a lot more experience not too long ago with Sexy Rexy..,

Here is an article on the Jets angle ...

If Meyer is already assembling a staff for the Jags, that’ll be one less position available. I read this morning that the Eagles were souring on Pederson (probably after the game last week having a lot to do with it), so that could possibly be another opening for Staley to possibly be linked to.

In Sundays game I noticed how JW was able to move the chains and how the Seahawks were able to bottle up Goff...with John's ability to scramble the defense was holding off a little but when Goff is in the game they don't have to watch him and can just push their way into the backfield to disrupt the play or sack Goff.
I wonder if JW will get the start if he is healthy next week. Goff's thumb is twice its normal size. I don't see him being 100% by next week.
We can't rely on Akers to do it all against the Packers on the road and then again against the Saints a week later. The Rams need a healthy QB.

Staley has completed interviews with the Jets and Chargers. Now onward he goes to prepare his D to meet the Packers.

we have to play the packers >.<
I bet Rodgers sees it differently, where he's the one who has to play that Rams defense.

I would think the reward for being the No. 1 seed should be a little better than having to face the NFL's Number 1 Defense, right?

Rams defense does well against pocket QBs. Lets hope Donald is at 100%. The Rams have the best pass coverage in the league if they come to play the Rams can steal this win from the fudge packers.
