Say what you will about Goff but he has been getting pounded in the pocket all season long. And Sunday he finished the game with a broken thumb. He needs better protection in the pocket. He is a pocket passer if the line can't protect him and block a decent running game the Rams will struggle. The Defense is set the Rams need to get the best O-line money can buy on the field by next season and the bench players to back them up. Because like it or not we are stuck with a pocket passer. No team will take on his contract.
So go easy on Goff he is tough and he may be sidelined the rest of the way.
Watch the highlights from the last two weeks. Defenders were often in our backfield in a flash like they had no one blocking them. Sometimes I feel like the Rams offense has a tell that teams are noticing.

We ran-up 334 total yards in offense and did not score one TD all day. Here is another scathing article outlining the misery on the offensive side of the ball.

Man I’ll never forget being at that game in the STL Dome and Trent Green goes down on a cheap shot during a pre-season game. In comes Kurt Warner

doubtful Walford is Warner but seems like the Rams have done ok with back ups. Burger wasn’t anything special and came out of nowhere for a few years when Warner “got old”

Yea, methinks this is the beginning of the end for Goff. I believe he is now officially Wentz 2.0 and will be moved in a trade in the near future especially if Wolford plays well or even great. Bortles being the back-up will really help. If Wolford crashes, I suspect we will see Bortles PDQ.

Trade him to New England for some picks since Billy likes giving them away and is probably looking for a redemption project after Newton didn't fare well there.

He isn't a Warner or a Goff but he does have the ability to extend plays and escape pressure which is what this weak O-Line requires a QB to be able to do. So it will be fun to watch him play anyway.

At this point we don’t know what he is. I don’t expect Warner but I don’t expect Goff either. He improved dramatically at Wake Forest and was practically the MVP of the AAF league which was basically like a minor league

Every extension the Rams FO has made has been one bad decision after another outside of Donald and maybe Ramsey.

Gurley- terrible
Cooks- terrible
Goff- atrocious

and all done before they ever needed to be done. If they had waited 1 more year on all those extensions, they would’ve saved the organization a ton of money and been able to cut bait with no cap hits.

I’ve never been a big fan of giving running backs big extensions. Of all the positions on the field, they have the shortest tenures. Better to just keep drafting them every four to five years in my opinion.
Cooks was a decent two or three receiver but in no way should he be getting top receiver money. Wasn’t upset to see him leave.
Goff is a middle of the road quarterback. Giving him that insane of an extension was absolutely stupid and don't remember anyone saying that it was a good idea.
Donald’s extension was smart and has not made the organization regret it. If anyone’s been worth that type of money, it’s him. I still think Ramsey is a wait and see but no complaints thus far.

The obvious and glaring area that needs attention is the O-line. The Rams have by-and-large ignored this area in the last five drafts relying instead on cast-off FA's except for Edwards, Evans, and of course Anchrum. The Rams need to get a couple of big, athletic, O-lineman in this draft coupled with some really good LBs. What we are seeing now is alot of our young studs having injury problems and this is evident on both sides of the ball.

But yea, UVA, draft RBs nearly every year. No way we should be giving monstrosity extensions to average players and you are spot on with your assessment of this front office's behavior of giving extensions way too early and for way too much money. They should go by the AD Rule in the future. Ten-to-One, Demoff was involved in all of them!

Kiser and Lewis back for Sunday. Kupp out. Jefferson gonna get his chance to shine. Xavier Jones maybe too. Hope they don’t rush Akers back.

Kyler Murray definitely playing. Should be interesting.
