I thought Zac 30 asked for a trade after we drafted Gurley?
Well he did, but that didn't mean we had to oblige him like we did. I liked the 'bowling ball Running Back' in our RB stable.

That said, we did pick up ILB Bryce Hager with that 7th round pick we traded Stacy to the Jets for, and Bryce did make the Rams 53 man roster, mainly for his contributions to ST play.

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- Five games into his NFL career, St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley is already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Well, sort of.

After setting a record for most rushing yards by a player in his first four starts of the Super Bowl era in last week's 27-6 win against the San Francisco 49ers, Gurley's jersey and cleats were shipped to Canton, Ohio, to be added to an exhibit in the Hall of Fame.

Following the team's win, Gurley received multiple requests to swap jerseys with 49ers players but declined in part because he had made some history while wearing it. Among the other accomplishments that Gurley reached while in the jersey and cleats:

  • He became the first rookie in NFL history to rush for 125-plus yards in four consecutive games.

  • His 575 rushing yards are third most in his first five games behind only Adrian Peterson and Eric Dickerson.
Gurley actually visited the Pro Football Hall of Fame over the summer with newly enshrined running back Curtis Martin. Upon his return, Gurley will now get a chance to see his own piece of history.

Rams work out Wes Welker, Hakeem Nicks, Vincent Brown

The Rams are considering a veteran wide receiver to bolster their anemic passing game.

Toward that end, they’re working out veteran receivers Wes Welker, Hakeem Nicks and Vincent Brown today, Adam Caplan of ESPN reports.

Welker said last week that he still should be playing. Once among the NFL’s best receivers, Welker has been out of the league all year amid concerns around the league that he has nothing left and may even be putting himself at risk if he plays again.

Nick has worked out with several teams this year but hasn’t been able to catch on anywhere. The Titans cut him at the end of the preseason.

Brown was once a very promising young receiver for the Chargers but was cut by the Chargers in 2014, lasted only seven games with the Raiders after that and was cut by the Colts after spending some time in Indianapolis this offseason.

St. Louis has gotten very little production from the wide receiver position this year. A veteran addition, even of a player past his prime, could make a difference.

It's official. Rams sign veteran WR Wes Welker. Not understanding this one. We have Tavon Austin doing basically the same things he does. Would have rather seen a possession receiver which we really need. SMH!

A huge fan of Wes Welker. Not sure how he fits into the Rams scheme at all but he can't be any worse than Bailey.

Tavon Austin only plays like 60%-75% of the snaps so Welker is more depth than anything

I'm still trying to figure out how many WR's we have on the field at one time?? I mean what different does it make Tavon is gonna run an end around until the DE's figure it out and throw him for a loss, Britt will get lost down the field and make 1 maybe 2 catches, Jared Cook will drop 2, gain a 1st down and then fumble, Quick will never see the field for more than 2 plays to block on Tavon's end around. Soooo we sign a WR because?? They aren't going to play. While we at it, cut marquez, sign Hakeem Nicks as well and keep it moving. Run some shotgun with 4 wr sets and see what happens.

Didn't Welker have serious concussion problems in the past?

You gotta to worry about his safety, but he isn't.

This signing makes little sense. We haven't used the WRs we have properly and now we sign this guy who has concussion problems. Seriously?

On the positive side, Welker brings leadership, an ability to separate and the attitude of a Champion!

If the signing only brings these attributes to the table, than it's a good signing!

Yea we heard this same "hope" positive rhetoric with Jake Long, Kenny Britt, Nick Fairley, Jared Cook, and a littany of FAs that were supposed to come in and change the attitude of a bad team all the while the coaching and FO problems continue to get ignored. Granted many of the FAs didn't have a ring like Welker but I have grown weary of the excuses year-in and year-out.

The way I look at it, he was only brought in to take Bailey's place while suspended (or if cut loose altogether). The other guys they brought in (Hakeem Nicks and Vincent Brown) aren't going to make a big difference either, but at least Welker approximates what they had (and didn't use enough) in Bailey.
