Not according to this.

4. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the St. Louis Rams claimed former Texans quarterback Case Keenum off waivers, according to a team official. Keenum will serve as the backup behind starter Shaun Hill.

Guy doesn't even know the playbook and he's the backup just because he has game experience?

Memo to Fisher: Davis can't get game experience if you don't play him.

Ian whoever the fuck he is says that he'll be the backup over Davis ??? He's never laid eyes on the Ram playbook, Davis looked good in the pre-season and I don't know why I would give 2 shits what he thinks...Of course I could be wrong...I doubt it this time though...

This is the same "source" that had the rams taking Johnny Manzel in the draft?
Lets just see what happens. Half of the time reporters completely off base when it comes to these things.

Maybe it was just a typo.

At least we don't have the goal lime fumbling Gus Frerotte on our team.

Am I the only one that likes Austin Davis over Shaun Hill?

I think they are pretty even with Hill having a slight edge overall as a temporary starter for the Rams this year....

That said, Hill has no real future in the NFL long term and Davis can be on the verge of something much greater than Hill could ever produce, at this point and time, career wise....

I guess the brass sees the potential to be much lessor than you and I Snake Eyes...

I do think the overall thinking is Hill will survive the study of tape much better than Davis. So if you're not committed to 'hanging' with the less experienced long term, it makes more sense to stay with the vet..

Austin Davis would be Bradford's rookie year all over again, imo. His work in the preseason was all short, easy passes

And still three or four years ahead of anyone we may pick up next years draft.

No Snake

You are not the only one.

I have wanted Davis to start day 1. Retro has said so as well.

And they may not need to draft a QB if they would play Davis and he ended up being successful vs playing Hill who we all know offers nothing for the future and will only cause the Rams to definitely draft a QB next year.

Retro was definitely out in front on that one. I would be fine with Davis passing Hill if ineffective, but think Hill's experience should earn him the starting position until passed by Davis.

I think this is a safety signing after the decision to go with two QB's last season and they realized they couldn't fill the void with a third when Sam went down. Shaun Hill and Austin Davis are clearly 1 and 2. Don't look for Case to touch the field unless something happens to our 1 and 2.

The way the offensive line has played of late, we might need 5 QBs on the roster.

Honestly guys, let's not under estimate Case Keenum. The guy was a stud at Houston. The Texans were in shambles with their offense last year. Case struggled taking over but is said to have 'moxie'. I'm sure some of you are looking for a guy like that. This guy can run if needed but the knock is, he has had problems adjusting to the game speed in the NFL, not always, mind you. He has had some good plays with his legs but can find himself taking big losses too often trying to get away from a pass rush.

Hopefully he will push Davis for the No. 2 spot once he gets the play book down. Both these guys (Davis & Keenum) are young and who the hell knows...

With a little coaching, one or the other may step up and be that guy. Right now, I'm just not gonna put all my eggs in one basket, since Hill has no long term future with the Rams...
