Quick update on Bossman

I know 100% what you are going through Boss. My Dad had the same thing. He got through it at that time and You will too. Its scary but just listen to the Doc... All the best all our thoughts We will hold off the NHL season until you are better

Hello all,

First of all Thank You so much for the kind words. For those of you that remember a pulmonary embolism was found in my right lung a couple a years ago and I went in last week for severe pain in my left leg, they did a doppler and found a blood clot, they called immediately for an ambulance and took me to the hospital for additional test. I was in for one week.

They found on a cat scan that the PE has grown "significantly" and I will be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. They are still waiting for all of the test results and I must see a specialist to try and figure out what is causing these because they can be fatal. They did surgery and installed a "filter" in my vein to prevent any clots from breaking lose and going to my heart.

I don't mind saying it has (is) scary and have had a few sleepless nights. They did give me some things to sedate me and try to keep calm (so some of this post may not make much sense).

Thanks for the texts dash and Tox, it's nice to get some kind words and helps me keep my mind off of "things".

I will keep you all updated and check the board from time to time. I consider all of my fellow posters friends and it's nice to know you all are with me.

I don't mean to spill my guts but it's scares the shit out of you when the doc says we must get you to the hospital NOW!!!!

TO ALL OF YOU. Hug your family members and never be shy about telling them you love them. Life can be short and you never know when things happen.

At least you have an idea of what you're dealing with, rather than dealing with the unknown. I'm sure you've experienced blood thinners before, it's not the end of the world. I was on them for about 18 months after a blood clot and it really just becomes part of your daily routine, to the point you don't even think about it. Things may be rough in the short term, but long term everything will work out.

Sounds a lot like a scary night at my house at 4 in the morning a little over a year and a half ago. The docs straightened my dad out, and they'll get you straightened out, too!

I did have a very cute nurse one of the nights there. I detected an accent in her voice and asked where she was from and she said "try and guess" so I took my best shot and said "Romanian?", she said "close, I am Russian" I couldn't help but tell her she was very pretty. Russian girls are funny they are either very cute or kind of ordinary or even homely at times. Well she made my stay a lot better....DAMN she was a cutie and did clean me up ( because they wouldn't let me get out of bed) but had to decline my offer to do the same to her. Something about some stupid hospital rules.

Oh well, at least I can say I was naked in bed with a pretty Russian girl close by.

With any luck they will be able to tell me the reason for all of these clot's once the results are in. I know clot's are not uncommon but the doctor is concerned about me having so many of them and the size of the embolism(s).

So in the mean time I must stay off of my feet as much as possible and get bed rest. I told the doc that I would feel better if I could take that Russian nurse home with me but again those fucking rules came into play. Oh well, I can't be alone anyway and am staying with a family member so privacy would be a problem.

Video research tells me that Russian nurses don't have any privacy issues and that they often can "care for" multiple patients at the same time.
