If I'm going to make this bet with the 2 teams that are actual competition in the division my team is in, it's going to be an educated bet...not some ridiculous nonsense about making up what the definition of a "true fan" is... A true fan is the fan that sticks with them through thick and thin, not making stupid assumptions about what they might be or who or what they might win when you don't know what the hell kind of team it is...
There goes any chance of making that bet assuming he is a Wisconsin alum

No, in 2019 there will be no more Pelini recruits but this upcoming year he will be playing his recruits. Then also the juniors and seniors will have had their third spring and fall practice under Riley.

The quarterbacks are his recruits. There could be hold outs in upcoming seniors but they will not have sway to effect the program if they at this point are still pro-pelini. They will be set on a bench and younger Riley players will fill in the gaps.

Go Tom. Go Bo Pelini.

Well there is no bullshit.

I'll take my $1,000. Would you prefer to pay via paypal? In person?

As I stated, it's for $500 that UW football will win 6 or more games in 2017. I'll give you until Aug 31, 2017 to back out. I don't have paypal. If for some reason I lose, I'll pay in a postal money order.

Eichorst got it right by firing Bo Pelini.

Eichorst got it wrong by hiring Mike Riley.

I doubt Mike Riley is the one to get Nebraska back to competing for a divisional championship. As has been stated he is 0-4 vs Wisconsin and Iowa and he is 4-8 against the Big Ten West.

I was one of the few that said I hated the hire. I don't dislike Riley and I have never said that, but he is not a winner at all.

I never wanted Mark Banker anywhere within 500 miles of Lincoln.

As soon as the Riley hire was made, I changed my signature to what it is today. Not going to change it (yet) because the performance in 2015 was some real bad coaching decisions in a few games, and in 2016 Mark Banker could not make a defensive game plan against a one dimensional Iowa team. The Ohio State loss did not bother me as I expected that beat down. The Iowa loss should not have been that lopsided.

On December 4, 2014 I posted this thread
FIRE EICHORST, this is ridiculous

I am on record as saying Mark Banker sucks and Danny Langsdorf is good.

My top two coaching wishes were

1. Gary Patterson TCU head coach
2. Justin Fuente (Memphis at the time)

I knew Patterson would say no, then TexasExes explained to me that Patterson was given part ownership of an oil exploration company to stay at TCU. So, Patterson's salary is something like $36,000,000 per year. Although, only around $4,000,000 of that is his coaching salary.

Justin Fuente is a very good offensive mind and he is a young up and comer coach. He knows Nebraska history. I think Virginia Tech got a great hire there.

Other information
Below is what Mike Riley's football contract is worth.

From 2014 through Feb 2016 2,700,000

2016 2,800,000
2017 2,900,000
2018 3,000,000
2019 3,100,000

Terminates Feb 28, 2020

Just like Pelini's contract , two cars provided

If Mike Riley leaves before contract is up, he owes the school $1,000,000. I am sure Alabama is monitoring this quite closely.

Fringe benefits, this must be where the Country Club comes into.

Appendix B is performance bonuses, going to the higher number cancels out the lower number. So, if Nebraska wins the B1G CCG the amount is $300,000, not 100+200+300= 600,000

$100,000 Nebraska wins or ties for West Division
$200,000 Nebraska goes to the B1G CCG
$300,000 Nebraska wins the B1G CCG

$150,000 Goes to any bowl game NOT the CFP
$250,000 goes to one of the six CFP bowl games(I think it is six)
$300,000 goes to one of the Two Semi-final games
$350,000 Goes to the CFP game
$650,000 Wins it all and is anointed a the next Governor of Nebraska if he wants it

The most Coach Mike Riley can make is 300,000 for being B1G Champion + 650,000 for being CFP Champion = $950.000 plus his annual salary and Coach's TV and Radio shows. Nice gig with a ton of pressure.

Don't know if Riley can do it but I would like to see Nebraska get back to a traditional power. Not 1995 good or anything but to being a mainstay in the top 15. One thing I've noticed about the history of Nebraska football is that they do put in some stretches of mediocrity but always bounce back.

It has been awhile, and I'm sure for NU fans it seems like forever, (as a Raiders fan 2002 until this season has felt like 50 years) but the Huskers will be back. Mike Riley may not be able to completely get him there but I think he is perfectly capable of getting them on the right track.

I like Riley. Smart, knows the game well. He can be too conservative at times. I think he relies too much on his game plan and doesn't like to deviate from it. The only knock I ever heard about him was that he wasn't disciplined enough at times with his players. That at times they felt more like individuals than a team. But I could never see him as rebuilding a program from 8 win seasons to 10-12 win seasons.

Shit you guys will have like 5 new coaches in the next decade if you do that..... lol

Oklahoma beat Nebraska 16 straight times once.
They went through 7 Head Coaches in that stretch.

If Iowa keeps winning, Nebraska will go thru quite a few Coaches.

Ferentz is no Wilkinson so the chances of that are slim.
Ferentz is 50/50 vs Iowa State for fuck's sake.

A lot of Coaches can win 9-10 games a season at places like Nebraska.
It took Osborne 10 years before he won more than 10 games.

Why did Oklahoma go thru 7 head coaches during that time?

Yeah the ISU series is a waste of time especially now that we play 9 conference games. Makes it tough to schedule a quality P5 OOC game and when Iowa wins it's NEVER a good win because ISU IS never better than 6 or 7 wins ( at best). Plus the Iowa kids don't really care about the game. Iowa St has much more to gain and nothing to lose. Iowa is their biggest rival. I'd be happy to dump it and schedule some better games. Ferentz gets a bad rap imo. He's not elite but neither is Iowas program. He develops talent about as well as anyone. I think he's got 5 top 10 finishes in the lastb15 years so it's tough to say he's not a good coach for Iowa. Would it be nice to win 8 or 9 games every year? You bet but with the recruiting constraints we pretty much have to be happy with being pretty damn good 1 in 3 years and just ok the other 2.
