I was surprised when they hired Riley from OSU. Didn't make any sense to me unless they were looking for an anti-Pelini type who could hold down the fort until Frost was ready to step in.

Always wondered what Nebraska fans thought about it then, and Riley now after a couple of seasons.

I'm pretty sure what they thought was " hey this is JUST the guy to lead us to an 0-4 record vs Wisconsin and Iowa his first 2 years"..... and they thought right

They are all down in the basement on their team board.

But most of them/all of them hated the new coach hire almost as bad as they hated Pelini.

They're going to hate every hire from now til the end unless they can find a way to hire 1995 as their head coach

Ok, I'll bite.

When they announced his name, I had to google it just to figure out who the fuck he was.

To answer your question, he was hired because he was "a nice guy", and Bo wasn't.

To answer your second question about how do we feel now....
We should fire anyone who loses twice in a row to Iowa.

My initial reaction? Who? Well if he can develop players he may have a shot.

My reaction now? Scratched my head at some calls but the guy needs a chance with his players. Withholding judgment for now.

Oh yeah, along with the initial reaction was Thank God the sideline clown is gone. Guess that was prior to Riley but agree wholeheartedly with that psycho be shown the door.

Do you feel he's a placeholder until Frost is ready? That's been my speculation.

Still wait and see. 2017 will be the deciding year for me more than likely. He will have more of his recruits in the system and playing than not, he will be in his 3rd year. He made moves to fire Special Teams coach which was needed. He is the right demeanor, lets see if he has the right strategy.

I personally don't think Frost is interested in coaching in Nebraska.

His specialty is coaching up 2 and 3 star recruits. I don't know how well he coaches up better players like Nebraska has.

So what you are saying is that Nebraska will not beat Iowa in the next decade? Well at least you got the lol right.

Really??? I think it's his dream job. He turned down Oregon to stay at a small college, and that's whack. I mean, Riley was not brought in to win a title. He's not that good.

Just busting balls man. You get to do that when you beat someone by 30 so if anyone starts a thread directed at Fresno St fans feel free to go crazy

First he wasn't offered at Oregon.
Second he told the Orlando Sentinel that if he was he wouldn't take it because he was only one year at UCF.
He said he was one year into making UCF a good team and until that was accomplished he wasn't going anywhere.
Third none of that has anything to do with Nebraska. Not that he holds ill will but Nebraska fans boo'ed him as a qb and he knows what would happen if he had a few bad years. I just don't think he feels that Nebraska is his home.

If we lose to fucking Iowa 10 straight, then we better keep firing coaches.

Oregon was real interested and contacted him or his agent. He turned them down flat.

I didn't know there could be some ill will between he and Nebraska. I would have thought it was a perfect match... the hero returning as a brite young head coach...
