I for one, will never count a team out that has Greinke and Goldy.

Also, I think we've just seen the beginning of David Peralta. He's a pitcher converted into an OF, so his prime could be just beginning as a hitter at 29.

And we aren't saying they WILL make it, you went out of your way starting a thread to say they are done on Opening Day… wasn't really the best thing to do.

There's still a possibility Pollock returns in July/August. If they stay afloat and get a month or two from him who the hell knows what can happen.
I know you're claiming they will make it, and I'm saying the stats (predictive ones at least) don't agree. Or even looking at it intuitively, it doesn't look good when the majority of your production was going to come from just three players, and a member of that group is out for a considerable amount of time, possibly the whole season.

It doesn't take advanced statistics to realize the D-Backs have a pretty underwhelming lineup without Pollock.

They're two great players, no doubt, but they're only 2 out of 25 players.

This roster has tons of depth. Maybe names you may not know of, but there is tons of talent on this roster that is waiting to breakout. Whether they do or not remains to be seen.

The predictive stats are never or rarely wrong...

Especially in baseball.

What? I've specifically (twice now) said I'm not predicting them to be a playoff lock, I said they can compete for a spot, likely a WC birth.

So you're saying they can/will make it?

Socrates Brito will be a better version of Ender Inciarte this season. Just watch.

That being said, I really do wish we didn't give up Inciarte in that trade, but that's hindsight. Our OF is deep with Brito, Peralta, Pollock, O'Brein, Drury, etc.

The playoff spot I'm saying they'll likely compete for will be a WC spot.

Clear enough?
Why are you trying to patronize me? My post said that you claimed they would make the playoffs and I don't think they will. Why are you acting like I said something different?

All I'm saying is I'm not starting threads saying "Snakes 2016 playoff lock".

There's a difference between saying they're going to make it and saying they're going to compete for it. Apparently you just love ultimatums, lol.

Losing Pollock does hurt but enough talent on that team for them to be in the Wild Card race.

Losing Pollock is a giant blow. As a D-Back fan, I simply can't say with a straight face that guys like Socrates Brito or Chris Owings (barf) will fill the void well enough.

I agree they still have the talent to be in the playoff hunt, but with Pollock out, they now have little room for error going forward.

He pitched with the flu apparently, must be a bug going around AZ spring training… (Mad Bum, Sonny Gray and a few others all dealing with it right now as well)

He better not give up a run his next 3 starts to make up for this shit! :tsk:

I'm really high on Brito, maybe too high, but we'll see.
