I get the 'camp leg' but why three (3) years? believe a few guys had two year deals recently, but isn't this the first three? first three year deal for someone not expected to make the team that is.

is it because he has more than 50% chance of being the future guy?

if you're Schmidt, do you want to be committed three years knowing we have Lee?

All undrafted FAs, by order of the new CBA, must sign 3 year contracts. It doesn't mean anything unless they make he roster though.

We may be on the hook for a small signing bonus, but I doubt it.
