A lot has been discussed on our boards about the talent level here in St Louis. (Especially on the offensive side of the ball)

Here is the most recent grades from Pro Football Focus. Amazingly enough, the only offensive talent depth rated 'good' is Jake Long.

That's gotta make you wonder about the validity of these ratings in whole however none the less I thought we could discuss...

I do think the Quinn rating was undervalued.

He did have a slow start last year but his 2013 was phenomenal!!

Also, very glaring is Greg Robinson's rating.

I do understand they don't grade out potential but WOW!

For a pick as high as he was that is very discouraging...

Yeah I'm not buying into some of these ratings.

I don't think I'm buying into any of them, that includes Donald, he's elite based on one year? And if he is elite, but Quinn's not, Barron is average LoL! And as Vita says, Long was better than Robinson, I think that was proven wrong! THis so called evaluation means absolutely nothing. I'd be curious how other teams players were rated?

There are some questionable ratings on that list.

I disagree with Saffold, Ogeltree, Tre Mason and G Robinson.

Saffold played a solid season and was ranked pretty high as a RG/LG. I don't see how that guy is just average.
Ogeltree had a very slow start but finished strong and started playing great football.
Tre mason also caught on very quickly and became a force in the backfield. His true test will be his 2nd year where Rams RB's often go MIA.
G Robinson. He's super Raw and will take some time to develop. He also had an average year at LT. I don't know why they have him in red???

This should show you something about Fisher as our coach.

Take Scott wells for example. He was rated dead last in Centers last year. Clearly his best days are behind him. Do you think Fisher would go with the young guy or the guy who at least will play average at worst? Nope...If we hang on to Wells this year I wont be surprised to see Fisher on the Streets in 2016

You're working with a seriously small sample size so these type of things aren't perfect at all. Advanced metrics like these are best in baseball when you can look at 150+ games.

Obviously Chris Long is better than his advanced stats because he makes Robert Quinn better. They are kind of the yin to the yang and they seem make each other work due to their different styles and coming off different edges. Long and Quinn should both be in the Very Good category.

The other three names that I think they are underrating are Saffold, Barron and Ogletree. I think they are overrating William Hayes and Tim Barnes.

I think the Tavon Austin rating is much, much worse than the Robinson rating if only because he is a year and a half older

Looks like trash to me... Quinn is Elite is AD is. Robinson and Saffold to me are at least GOOD linemen. And, I love Will Hayes but no way he is rated as GOOD while Brockers is rated AVERAGE. This is GARBAGE

Quinn had a slow start with a new defense to learn and new linemen to work with. He will be elite next season.
Nice post Vita...

I'm sure Red with the cream of the crop teams in the League they were moving along quite well.

Probably made some fine assessments too but when they got to the bottom of the barrel (Like with our Rams), it was just too easy to look for the gem or two & grade them high and then downgrade all else respectively...

I can see how that happens. It's a lot like how ESPN or NFLnetwork never talks about the Rams. In their defense there's not much to talk about :(

Screw the both of those sports "venues". I have grown weary of their collective man-love for Tom Brady and the Patriots. Freakin' cheaters, the lot of them!

PFF graded the Rams as the 2nd least talented team in football heading into last year so its actually kind of an improvement.

Thank you for getting it! according to the Coug, Wells is playing because the guys behind him suck and can't beat him out! Yet like you say, Wells was not very good but we wouldn't want to see how are backups are in actual game time situations? And it's like with a few other players, you don't know what you ave if Yiu don't play them!

Umm unless you are professional NFL coaches and see the guys in practice every day. then you might know they suck! that might be why they don't get in the game? Yeah because of you sucking in practice and can't get it done your going to be Just fine in an actual game?

True, but we also know that Fisher tends to hold on to starting vets a little too long. Starting Joseph over anyone else on the roster (Person? Washington?) seemed questionable as the season went along last year, and Barrett Jones is a great unknown still.
