He'll certainly get his reps over the next few weeks. Not sure TB plays that much in game 4? 1 QTR max. More likely just a couple series? However, those series could feature a lot of TB12 to Carr?
In BB we trust.

Sorta of what I would like to see let him make mistakes in game that means nothing.

We have two weeks until game one I agree with Carr being the future just not sure now is the time. BB does believe in baptism by fire so it may end up being that way, as I eluded to earlier he would get a crap load of reps in practice the next two weeks and some game time reps week 4 with TB12, they have to know or learn more.

Back when Edelman got his 1st contract extension, many on here didn't like it. I liked him because he had good hands. Carr has good hands also. I agree that 2 more weeks is worth a lot. If catches what we throw at him, the rest will follow......

And if and this may sound odd, if we puts his faith in TB12. To play slot in this league you have to be one brave mofo and trust your QB won't lead you into a monster hit. That is the one thing that worries me most the trust and faith in one another.

Brady doesn't hang his WRs out to dry. Rarely does he ever lead a receiver into a safety for a vicious hit, if anything he tries to lead the receiver away from the coverage giving them a chance to break away.

They may give Austin a shot right away, but he's excellent on the 15 and 20 yard bends. He has enough speed to break coverage, good hands so that TB can lead him and the agility to make a quick change of direction and get the YAC.

For those of you not familiar with the term "Bend"...........Receiver takes off and when he hits approx. 10 or 15 yards, he takes two steps left or right and then makes a quick loop diagonally in the opposite direction. Brady has already thrown the ball to the spot where he's supposed to be. If he's not there, it'll be an INT or a turf ball. The defender has to literally bend himself in the opposite direction of his coverage.

He only moved back about a half a dozen spots with the Ealy trade.

So too soon to tell if it was a failure or not.

I keep forgetting we swapped picks and got Ealy...so yeah, not as bad.

IMO on the WR spot...anyone in this offense can play the slot, including RB. MM won't be playing any pos if he cannot get on the field. This is the same knee he had issues with in college. I think BB makes a move at WR. We are not as deep anymore, esp with JE out. I have read that Carr is NO lock to even make this team, and no way a team like the Yets will allow him to make the PS either. I am a little concerned right now at WR. Cooks, Hogan, Dola, MM, Lucien, Carr....Dola and MM have injury problems.

James White supposedly told BB that he'd be willing to fill in for JE until the position is settled. Hell, never gave him more than a passing thought.

This was mentioned last night on PTI or Around The Horn, seems a good choice.

I think as fans we all need to accept not that productivity from that position will decline. IMO this is sort of like the QB that follows Brady we all may expect a lot or to much from JEs replacement, we all IMO need to accept that things will not be the same.

With White, Lewis, and Burkhead, they have three very good pass-catching backs that they can do slot receiver type things with (heck maybe even throw Foster into that conversation, too)...a lot of flexibility with those guys. Might be a hiccup or two along the way as TB won't have his #1 3rd down security blanket, but I think by now we can and should trust him and McD to figure it out.

Given that the backs so compliment the recievers, do you keep Carr or Foster? As far as third down security blankets, don't you think Gronk, Dola and White kinda fill the bill?

Sure, but even when those guys were on the field with JE, JE was pretty much always his first choice when they needed a tough 3rd down. Not that he can't come to the same level of trust in any or all of those guys, just that I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few occasions early in the season where they miss a key conversion that you just know JE would've made while they adjust to life without him is all.

Didn't Adrian Peterson tear his ACL in preseason and come back and play same season a couple years ago?

There was a Boston Orthopeadic S[ecialist on BST last and she said that a torn ACL generally takes a normal person 18 months to heal and get back to regular use. Professional athletes take less time because of the daily rehab, message and professional trainers working on it. Average time to return is 12 months. Adrian Peterson returned in 8 months which is extraordinary.

When the ACL is torn, they graft a tendon to the torn ligament. It takes about 6 months fo0r the tendon to become a ligament and about six months for it to get the strength and flexibility of a ligament. You learn something new every day......
