Does anyone know the rules/limitations on activating a practice squad player to the 53 man roster? Can it be done at any time? Once brought up, can they be sent back to the practice squad?

A guy can be activated any time during the season. Team must have an available roster spot. So in order to bring a guy up, most teams would have to either cut some one, or have placed some one on IR. A guy can be released and resigned to the practice squad as long as he isnt on the active roster for 8 games or more. Once a guy has a total of 8 games on the active roster, he can never again be a practice squad player for ANY team.

That last part is why White had to be a part of the active roster in order for us to keep him.

Isn't Burdette injured and out for the season because of a torn ACL? What's the rule about putting a injured player on the practice squad?

I'm not aware of Burdette getting injured, but I could have missed it. I thought he was cut on saturday.
