Heupel has just been fired by OU. Even though the Rams wanted to interview Roman and he stiffed them by running to Boofalo and Shanahan will make an appearance, Heupel is probably the guy they may snap up because of his connection to Sammie.

I am more and more thinking the best way to snag Heupel and to help him get his feet as an NFL coach without overwhelming him is to have Fisher promote someone from within and have Heupel take the vacated position. I was VERY high on Heupel, but the more I think about it, I think bringing him in as OC would be suicide.

I'll take your mentational synthesis as the wiser plan. Logically then, the next candidate in line would be Rob Boras and then Heupel can take his vacated position as you've stated.

Another name has popped on the Rams radar. Nathaniel Hackett (yes, son of Paul). He is the former OC for the Bills. Not sure I want a guy who ran a horrible offense as our OC, but who knows

OK, wait a sec... just heard John Fox was fired in Denver!! So now that is another coaching opening. Might Elway bring in Shanahan?? Or maybe Del Rio gets the promotion. And what of Mr Fox?? New York?? Oakland??... the crazy spinning coaching caroseul

Wow, that is a shocker!! Looks like Elway is running the show and has more power than ever since Pat Bolen has a bad case of dementia.

I think the guy the Rams should go after since he was let go along with Jack Del Rio who has the inside track to become the next HC in Oakland would be Adam Gase.

Gase is interviewing for head coaching jobs, but if he does not snag one, he would be a great hire.

On a side note, I am happy that Todd Bowles look like he will not be in the NFC West anymore. He seems to be the guy the Falcons want as HC. Good for him, bad for the Tardinals.

Gase is the front runner to get the HC job in San Fran, Del Rio in Oakland and Fox in Chicago...all great hires imo.

A guy that is under the radar and not being talked about, but is someone I would REALLY get behind as an OC is Wilbert Montgomery. He was the Browns RB coach this past season and coached in St Louis previously. Dude was a hell of a football player and obviously knows offense.

Nothing would energize this fan base more than getting Mike Martz back in the building, besides of course hitting a HR with the next QB drafted..

But would Mad Mike run the ball? Or would he go pass happy again?

He would definitely find ways to get our weapons the ball in space.

That might be true SJ76. I think he would butt heads with Fisher and if we even consider bringing him back we write in his contract that he can't become headcoach and be involved directly with personnel decisions. He was horrible at both wherever he went.

Yes I forgot about the QB he drafted from Nebraska and tried to make a safety.

Crouch went to Canada after a coffee break in GB and then out of football and we wasted yet another pick on the guy.

Nice pickup for them. Also looks like Bowles took the job with the Jets and wants Trestman AND Cutler. Could that mean Geno Smith might be available?? Guy does have a history with Tavon and Stedman.

Oh, the poor Jets fans. Sanchez to Geno to Vick to Geno to Cutler?

I'm not so sure Cutler is fond of Trestman at this point?

Just reported that Jim Tomsula will be the next HC of the Niners, meaning the reported front runner, Adam Gase, is still looking for a job. Obviously, he will interview for the Broncos HC gig but he would be a HUGE pickup as OC.
