The thing about the "old days" is that the season was over by the beginning of December, they weren't playing in to January or February. And an interesting fact, the first playoff game was moved to an indoor arena in Chicago in the middle of December because of weather.

Aren't they the same ones always talking about how the game is intended to be played in the elements and how they brave them no matter what?

To be honest.... The Green Bay fans don't have anything on Seahawk fans when it comes to gloating about how awesome the are. And I think most people would agree with that.

So, in other words.... I'm right and you immediately resort to deflection.

Who let this piece of shit back in here?

This December it has snowed non-stop and has been bitterly cold - the NFL used to be played entirely in the snow belt and games were played in WINTER you moron. Who cares if a few playoff games now go into January? The point is, football was developed and weaned in the northern reaches of the United States, as I stated. Why don't you dispute those facts or shut the fuck up?

Seahawk fans in a thread that has nothing to do with their team trying to turn it into a pissing match about how much better their fans are than Green Bays and then talking about deflection.....

Weren't you banned for your deep rooted obsession of all things Seattle?

who stated their dislike for that statement??

Angry Blaise. I didn't make anything up. When pro football began, it was throughout the fall and first couple weeks of the winter. Now it goes all the way to February and things have changed.

Glad to see you are back. Now you can tell us how it feels to have your favorite coach, Pete Carroll retake control over the NFCW and get HFA for the playoffs.
Granted, I missed my prediction by 2 lousy points that we would sweep Ess Eff this year but I was spot on that the NFCW would be ours.

We hope to meet once more before it is over for the year. :lol::yahoo::laugh3:

Dear idiot - in WI, MN, upstate NY and the areas the NFL started in, it begins snowing in November, meaning around half the games were played during the winter season. Here are the facts:

1. American football was developed as a cold weather game played in cold weather states (see: my list above).
2. American football throughout most of its history was played outdoors.
3. American football has always, from day one, played into the winter season.

My initial post was in response to the candy-asses complaining that the Super Bowl might be played in cold weather. So what. That's the history of the game. My initial point was concise and succint, yet this jagoff refuses to acknowledge these obvious facts because he'd rather harp on the fact that the NFL has added playoff games that push the season even longer. So fucking what? Means zero/zilch/nada placed next to my initial point, which still stands.

Eh I've been to a fair share of games (NFL) and I really don't like it. It's fun in hindsight to actually remember the atmosphere, energy, and SEE it, but I would never do season tickets let alone attend more than 1 every 2 seasons or so. And 'true fans' can still earn the team plenty of money by buying other merchandise and tuning in via the tube (prob. generates more than the $100 in raw advertising after a while).

I dunno I'd rather have:

* Warm 70 degrees weather.
* No bathroom wait lines and a clean one at that.
* Comfy couch or leather chair.
* Internet access to chat with folks on the game or get a live update elsewhere.
* Generally tastier and cheaper food + beverage.
* HD Screen that shows all the best camera angles and close up action that really lets me determine what's going on.
* Avoiding 1-2 hours in commute+traffic.

Those things all outweigh the 'atmosphere' for me, which once you've experienced it a couple times.... is not that special (IMO). That's my stance, I'm sure many disagree and say there's nothing like being at the game. And I agree with that. There is nothing like being at the game. But not being there > being there LOL (imo of course).

Be thankful that most fans don't feel the way you do. Otherewise, all games would be blacked out.
Besides, there is nothing like being there. That is exactly why most games sell out.

Who is not acknowledging those facts? We're all very aware of those facts, we're also aware that it's colder in January and February than it is early December.

All I said was that the season was over by mid-December back in the day. Sorry that offended you.

Lot of truth to that.

Wasn't that long ago I used to hunt in about a foot of snow with temps in the single digits - and that was in the 3rd week of November. Lately, with this year being the exception, I am still playing golf in the 3rd week of November. Blame it on global warming if you wish but Blaise does have a point. Snow and cold used to come a lot earlier and last much longer years ago.

The history of the game is irrelevant. Today's game is about the highest profit yield possible. Having your customer trudge around in 2 feet of snow is not conducive to the end result, money making. Back in the day people didn't have HD television, with every imaginable camera angle, and a better overall experience. So, though you may be correct that, historically, the league and it's players played in inclement weather, the league is straying from that to make the game more enjoyable for the fans.

Do you have to run every thread off its tracks? This thread has nothing to do with Seattle or your inferiority complex. I won't participate in the childish back and forths.

I can relate when i was a kid in the 70's here in the Seattle area we had snow every winter that would last at least two weeks then cold rain and again some snow for a week or two,used to go sledding here in Bellevue down many streets and people would ski and ride snowmobiles,it stopped happening as much around the mid 80's.

I attribute more to just changes in the weather patterns etc because it has been colder than normal this year just no snow.
