I agree. People all over the country are having a hard time, yet these organizations charge $30 to park you car, $15 for food, $10 for a beer, and hundreds for a ticket. On top of that, they have the audacity to ask the taxpayers to help fund their stadiums. Organizations like the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc are so greedy I have a hard time fully supporting these leagues.

Me too, it's hard to reconcile my opinions on govt subsides en such with the same sports teams I love.

Extensions granted for all teams. They'll all go down to the wire and sponsors will pickup the remainder. They will all sell out most likely.

He just doesn't understand that we aren't simply talking about "cold." These are the projected wind chills for kickoff. Might be $150 worth of fun for some, but definitely not me. I wouldn't go for free.

Dude that's like 110 degrees lower than the current temp in San Diego. How the hell do you people live there?

Eh I've been to a fair share of games (NFL) and I really don't like it. It's fun in hindsight to actually remember the atmosphere, energy, and SEE it, but I would never do season tickets let alone attend more than 1 every 2 seasons or so. And 'true fans' can still earn the team plenty of money by buying other merchandise and tuning in via the tube (prob. generates more than the $100 in raw advertising after a while).

I dunno I'd rather have:

* Warm 70 degrees weather.
* No bathroom wait lines and a clean one at that.
* Comfy couch or leather chair.
* Internet access to chat with folks on the game or get a live update elsewhere.
* Generally tastier and cheaper food + beverage.
* HD Screen that shows all the best camera angles and close up action that really lets me determine what's going on.
* Avoiding 1-2 hours in commute+traffic.

Those things all outweigh the 'atmosphere' for me, which once you've experienced it a couple times.... is not that special (IMO). That's my stance, I'm sure many disagree and say there's nothing like being at the game. And I agree with that. There is nothing like being at the game. But not being there > being there LOL (imo of course).

Anyone who thinks the GB game will get blacked out is an idiot straight-up.

I've been to 95 & humid as well as single digit wind chills and I think both are equally uncomfortable. I love being at Lambeau, but I only need that experience once a season at this point.

Colts are reporting their game won't be blacked out, but it's said they had to give thousands of tickets to military families to meet NFL requirements to avoid the blackout.

But at least that's inside. Holy crap, the 9ers are in for hell freezing over in GB .

What if the unthinkable happens and this hits the weekend of the SB?

What if, what's worse you get two warm weather teams like SD and NO?

That is Roger Goodell's worst nightmare. I hope it happens.

I've lived in the Midwest all my life and I've never experienced worse than -10. Also: it's been in the -30s in New Jersey before. It could easily be 5-10 degrees for the Super Bowl, and so what? Football is a cold-weather game. The first NFL season featured 4 teams from Illinois, 2 from New York, 3 from Wisconsin, 6 from Ohio, as well as a team each from Minnesota, Kentucky and Indiana. Those are the roots of the game and weather is (or at least should be) a part of it.

Things change. People don't want to spend so much money to sit in the cold anymore when they can watch it on TV. There used to be records, everyone read a newspaper, and didn't need a college degree to get a job.

The NFL should be ahead of the curve. The $100 min the NFL puts on playoff tickets is unbelievably stupid, and makes price flexibility impossible except price flexibility to make games more expensive. If you price people out of the stadium, and then black them out when they don't show up, you deserve all the negative publicity that goes along with it.

Thing about the midwest is I don't want to know what the temp is I want to know what it feels like. And often out here it feels zero or below. Worst weather in this country, and I pray to god its my last winter here.
