Would be nice if the young guy could go out and win the position. If he doesn't, then RT goes to the top of the list for needs next offseason.

Any chance Jeremy Trueblood or Tony Pashoes wins the job? Also a player to watch might very well be Xavier Nixon..Tom Compton should be ready to take the RT position hopefully.

I think its worth noting that T. Armstead the Saints 3rd round pick is the favorite to start at left tackle for D. Brees. He was there at #51. Would have been an immediate starter at RT for the Skins.

Yea, but our bigger need was at the DB position. I think they made the right call drafting Amerson at 51. I mean while Polumbus is no Pro Bowler... we could do ALOT worse at the RT position.

Can't fill every need in one year.

They can at least disguise weaknesses on the line with scheme. There wasn't much they could do on defense scheme wise to hide our secondary.

Trueblood will beat polumbus

I dont think so. trueblood would be a great BACKUP if we ran a power running attack. He doesnt have the lateral movement to be a starting RT in a Zone blocking system.

That gives him something in common with Polumbus then.

Polumbus has been in Washington learning the system though. And while he wasnt a rock star, he did OK for the most part last year. I think the job is his to lose and some one would have to seriously outplay him to take the job at this point. I just dont think Trueblood is that guy, or Pashos. Compton or Nixon... maybe. But its Polumbus' job to lose, as it should be.

I think Trueblood is a better overall player than Polumbus. Polumbus was a pretty clear weakness on the line to my eyes. Ok in run blocking, but absolutely terrible in pass protection. If someone can't beat out Polumbus, it just goes to show how bad off we are at right tackle. Because that guy has no business starting in my opinion.

the problem with both trueblood and polumbus are that they are 6-8 and are benders
we are bad at RT

I agree with shark, Polumbus starts this year. He has been the starter for the last year and a half. He did a good job at everything except 7 step drops. Polumbus is an especially good zone blocking tackle. He needs to set lower and get a better punch in the pass game.
