What i always find particularly funny is that people believe the ACA was the cause of insurance providers doing what they have been doing and will continue to do for as long as they are in a for profit industry. And by that I mean raising prices and passing any costs possible onto the consumer.

Or do yo guys really think that if not for the ACA the insurance companies wouldnt be raising prices at every possible turn?? The ACA was never about lowering insurance costs, it was about expanding coverage.. which it did. It was also about adding in preventative coverage which it also did.

And the sad part is, people are hoping the ACA gets repealed with no realistic replacement for it.

As for the insurance company raising prices, absolutely correct. And this plan gave them every ability to gouge us more. Know why? Because they have no competition. This is what happens when the Government chooses winners and losers in the market. Get the government out of it and watch prices come down. Yes, this would also mean that some would not have coverage. I'm all for coming up with a plan for those that need a safety net who need it.......for a period of time to get them on the path to self sufficiency, if they are able.

So they screwed 300M to make it “affordable” for 30M (of which about half never wanted it)? And that’s a good plan?

IM assuming you have never known someone who could not afford to take a better job because the little things like pre-existing conditions would mean that they would lose coverage if they switched jobs? Or anyone who did it anyway, and all of a sudden needed to file bankruptcy because they couldnt afford health coverage.

And I agree a Republican congress wouldnt do it because they have become a party of personal profit over all else, and if you cant afford health care.. well fuck you and die.

But that’s right, the Dems are only concerned with the little guy. They are so virtuous. This holier than thou attitude is getting tiresome. Neither party is really concerned with the little guy.

btw, I have a serious preexisting condition so I am all too familiar with your example. But that is easily solvable with some very specific legislation. The entire population does not have to be affected to address that issue.

Some times the only way to fix an issue for one group, is to affect the entire population. If it were as easy to fix as you say, the ACA would not have been needed.
