I know this is unique to those of us that served. But the oath we took said to protect and uphold the constitution and the country against all enemies foreign and domestic. I missed the line where it said party or President... alot of folks apparently got a different oath.

It is interesting that it's the exact same oath that the president, supreme court and members of congress take, and despite that we get nonsense like "I'll continue to support him because of his policies" or my favorite "because he is our president." Right now I have no idea what it's going to take to wake these people up. Perhaps the complete elimination of the rule of law will do it, but then, there would be no country to speak of to protect and defend.

So DGF thinks just like me on alot of issues. It’s comforting in knowing that I don’t live alone on my logical island.

My position on back ground checks is this. We need tuff checks but really in a sense its pointless. The vast majority of these checks will be done on honest and responsible citizens such as myself and probably all others on this board. Until they start coming down hard on the parents or guardian of these kids who have easy access to the guns in their home; school shootings will continue, but even then guns will find there way into the hands of the nut jobs.

So in regards to gun ownership and permit status theres no easy answer, or any that will appease everyone. However, a great place to start would be to not allow people to obtain military type weaponry that can kill lots of people quickly. It’s just not needed in any home.

So, tell me what makes a tough background check? What disqualifies a law-abiding citizen from their Constitutional rights? What percentage of these mass shootings are done by kids with access to guns in their house? Do kids have no right to defend themselves in their own home? The only way to prevent these kids from having access to guns is to take away their ability to defend themselves in their own home.

There is an easy answer. The only permit required is the second amendment.

The purpose of the second amendment is not home defense...it is defense of tyranny.

And you are a Liberal 2nd Amendment hating un American.... just like that. :pound::pound:

Seriously though, on this we agree. High rate of fire weapons have no place in the hands of civilians as the only purpose for these types of guns is mass casualties.

Sorry but the second amendment is there to defend us from tyranny.

I am definitely guilty of calling a spade a spade, if that’s what the republicans on here think I’ve done.

That’s mostly because Republicans tend to spend a majority of time living in fear, stoking fear and hatred, and dividing people based on fear, and hate.

Case in point: these people.

Republicans need to read more about true heroes like American patriot, AOC, and read more from actual news sources like the Washington Post, New York Times, and the Huffington Post, and spend less time fearing brown people, fearing people of any color other than white people, and actually caring about their fellow man instead of pretending to care about them.

As MLK so boldly stated:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Republican lemmings: you’re welcome.

Living in fear...guns
Living in fear...the environment
Stoking fear and hatred...calling everybody a bigot for not taking your exact stance or creating white guilt (privilege)

What makes AOC a Patriot?

Nobody fears brown people or any other color. It sure seems you fear white people.

MLK got it right...why do you hate white people?

Too funny. So me, dad, gkek and others cant be taken seriously because we are Trump supporters. Could it be that we are just supporters of the office of the president. Id rather much be on this side of the coin than the one who would give their left nut if only a bomb could just drop on Trumps watch. If the economy could just crash on Trumps watch. If war could just break out on Trumps watch. That logic makes no sense to me. I dunno,, call me ignorant but I would think that everyone would want any president to succeed and not just the ones from their party. Seriously though.. to me thats ignorance at its finest... to hope for terrible things just to say “there ya go”..

I don’t support the office of the POTUS. I support the Constitution.

Depends on what you want said President to succeed at.

For me, when a President is putting kids in cages, trying to repeal a law that would strip 10-30% of the country of health insurance because he doesnt like the nick name of the law, and that President gives cover to people who want to divide the country... No I dont want him ti succeed in those efforts. Its awesome that rich folks are making more money and all that. But the world Trump envisions and that his followers support, is not really a world I want my grandkids to grow up in as second class citizens... or more likely unwanted residents.

Putting kids in cages started long ago because we do not have room for all of them to stay at the Hilton on the US taxpayer dime. Maybe their parents should keep them home instead of using them to get into this country.

Is it better that he causes healthcare costs to skyrocket for most Americans?

The country was divided by Obama and liberals...evidence...intersectionality.

Poor people are making more too.

Your kids are not second class citizens. They may make more or less...that doesn’t make them second class.

True, but the only time I see these high rate of fire weapons being used are to either kill other citizens, or to train to try and assassinate some of our duly elected representatives. Haven't seen much terrany protection going on though.

If you understood my point you would have addressed it. Again my claim was not that there is mud slinging on only one side, of course that goes both ways. It's not that if you disagree with said position you are ignorant. No the point was the right seems to follow a pattern of lumping people as liberals simply because they hold certain liberal views while retaining conservative or in my case moderate positions on other issues. I never claimed it is done by every Trump supporter, I'm just pointing out a clear pattern that I have seen from the right and a pattern I have not seen from the left nearly as often.

I can't be any more clear about what I am saying. . If you still don't get it you just ain't gonna get it.

The predominant views of liberalism...abortion rights, big government, redistribution of wealth, guns are bad,

Term limits is just a start. We need corporate money out of politics. We damn sure need religion OUT OF politics. We need a truly representative government in BOTH legislative branches of congress.

Term limits...good
Corporate money gone...good

How do you take religion out? What do you mean?

What do you mean representative government in both branches of Congress?

WOW! This thread certainly has gone backasswards. we are all people and as such have differing opinions on different subjects. Let's take one of the more recent issues of our time...healthcare.

Anyone here believe that there's no one on the planet who shouldn't have the best health available? Yes, then the question becomes how we provide cost effective access to the same for everyone in this country, correct? The current system doesn't provide that and it costs everyone who currently does have it more, as costs continue to skyrocket.

Now is this a Republican or Democratic issue or one about human decency? If you selected "human decency" then clearly you're NOT an Republican or Democratic asshole, congratulations!

I don’t believe in the best healthcare for people actually. People make choices and some of those choices lead to heavier costs.

The best healthcare is created through a costly education. If you want the best doctors, they need to be paid.

The best healthcare is created through innovation. Innovation is expensive and high risk. If you want innovation, it is costly.

I am sorry, but I don’t believe in keeping people alive, simply because people fear death.

When elements of human decency become objects of financial profit, the odds that someone will decide to put profit over decency is bound to happen. The reason health care costs so much in this country is greed. The reason weed is still illegal on a federal level is greed.

Healthcare costs are expensive because of greed from frivolous lawsuits.

Innovation is costly and high risk. The reward should be high.

Weed being illegal is greed? Funny, but I thought the left said it should be legal to tax it. Isn’t that greed?

to ignore that HRC ignored a soebpena and destroyed her emails and computers and bleach bit them while under said subpeona is uninformed and naive

to buy that HRC didnt use pay for play with her foundation is uninformed and naive

to buy that the MSM is fair and even handed is uninformed and naive

Obama was called a fascist, Racist the N word, terrorist in hiding and some how I dont remember the outrage from the right. Oh wait, because it was coming from the right.

A man who tries to ban American citizens from serving their country because of their sexual preference is a homophobe and a bigot. A man who refuses to rent his properties to black people because they are black is a racist.

Actually, I defended Obama frequently, such as when he bowed in China.

Good order and discipline. Outward homosexuality has been banned in most of our history.

Does he rent to black people today?

Question for everyone who still supports Trump and believes in the rule of law. Legal subpoenas are being issued and this president and his AG are either ignoring them or asking recipients to also ignore them, so here's my question, are we a country of laws or not? (liking them or not is not an option)

What are the subpoenas you are referring to?

Actually voting against him is the least one can do. Since it requires congress to pass the laws he wants to enact, your voice should count more than just once every four years. As for the economy, he has improved on an economy that was already headed in a positive direction. The Jobs rate was increasing before he took over. So reality is, he has managed ot NOT fuckup a rebuild that was already in process. Kudo's for that. But he got handed a decent situation coming in on both areas.

Obama’s exact words...those days of growth are gone.

Job rates were improving because of spending. They are still improving because of spending. He was handed a stagnate economy that hadn’t grown properly in Obamas whole presidency.

And Obama was handed a recession that he actually pulled the country OUT of.

The following is from President Barrack Obama’s Facebook feed. In other words, the Democratic leader and President of the Free World is advocating learning from different opinions, including those who are critical of him.

Meanwhile, we have President Spraytan, prattling on and on against anybody who he even perceives to have slighted him - and his followers embrace it.

THAT’S what is wrong with the Republican party these days. The absence of anybody who say THIS:

“I’ve always loved weekends because they provide me with a little extra time to make my way through the books and articles I’d been meaning to dig into. Here are a handful articles I’ve read over the past few weeks that stuck with me.

Now, I don’t always agree with every single thing that’s in them and, in fact, occasionally they contain things that are critical of my record as president. But one of the thing I strive toward is finding smart, thoughtful writing from people who have a different political perspective than I do. These stories further my understanding about some key public policy challenges — like the economy, technology, and criminal justice. They provoke me to think about problems in a new way. And they remind me about the urgency of certain issues that deserve more attention than they often receive.

So for anybody looking to be part of a solution, I hope these articles will give you some fresh perspectives — and I’ll keep them coming in the weeks ahead.

“How the Upper Middle Class Is Really Doing” in the New York Times by David Leonhardt: https://nyti.ms/2NryJ83

“White Nationalism’s Deep American Roots” in the Atlantic by Adam Serwer: https://SportsHoopla.com/2TQFlSU

“Keep It Simple and Take Credit” in Democracy: A Journal of Ideas by Jack Meserve: https://SportsHoopla.com/2ULlAO3

“Alabama’s Gruesome Prisons: Report Finds r*pe and Murder at All Hours” in the New York Times by Katie Benner and Shaila Dewan: https://nyti.ms/2UuAWW8

“‘Change My View’ Reddit Community Launches Its Own Website” in WIRED by Arielle Pardes: https://SportsHoopla.com/2DjgPk3”

He says some things and acts differently. It is called hypocrisy. If he was open, he wouldn’t have had the IRS weaponized against the Tea Party and 5he opposition in the presidential election spied on.
