Even Bryan Murray is not stupid enough to trade Spezza within the division, especially if the main piece he gets back is a no good whining and diving pussy.

Although a whining, diving pussy would fit the Murray's Ark mold.

lmao!!

I knew as I was scrolling down this page I'd find your post somewhere in here!

:D

Andy Strickland is confirming that the Flames have talked to Ottawa regarding Spezza. Also interesting to note that Spezza is due a $4 million bonus if he is still with Ottawa on July 1st.

Deja vu.

Didn't we go through all this after last season?

Ottawa really needs to stop including those types of bonuses in their contracts.

A deal between the Flames and Sens for Spezza would be tough to pull off. Clearly Sutter would want to trade Langkow and Regehr/Sarich.

There is one player that could change the deal though, at least imo and that's Backlund. I'd probably do a Langkow, Regehr and Backlund for Spezza and a draft pick or prospect. Murray seems to love Swedes lately...

And this time if Spezza doesn't get dealt before July 1st then he definitely won't be traded. I can say that with 100% certainty.

I don't think Sutter wants to do it (because I think Backlund could turn out to be really good), but will he be as good as Spezza? Certainly makes things interesting.

another group on waivers today:
Today's waivers: Oystrick (ANA), Moreau, Nilsson, O'Sullivan (EDM), Fedoruk (TB), Brashear, Rissmiller, Voros (NYR). All buyout eligible.
(dregertweet)

what ever happened to Voros? He was really effective for a brief shining moment, then *poof*
I think he may have a resurgence once he gets away from the influence of Avery.

Hey POS scored 22 goals for the Kings a couple of years ago. Of course he took 220 shots mostly from behind the goal line.

lol...Okay, maybe I was a tad harsh, but this upcoming July 1st (TSN Free Agent Frenzy) looks like it could be as boring as the recent draft. After Kovy, not a lot of big names.

This could work out one of two ways. Either players get paid what they are worth, or because of the lack of talent in the pool, mediocre players will get too long of contracts or get overpaid. What do you think happens.

Personally, I think a lot of the older guys on the market (say 32+) are going to find slim pickings out there. Their best bet may actually be with smaller market teams that need to pick up guys in order to reach the salary floor. A lot of the big stars are currently locked up in long term contracts and I have a feeling that owners don't want to commit big dollars to the guys currently on the market.

IMO, for the right price, Cheechoo would look good back in teal on the Sharks' 4th line.

I was thinking he could possibly receive some rejuvination in Detroit (nowhere near 3.5 mil), but back in SJ would make sense too, now that Todd M. has settled in. (and apparently everything was the goalies fault)

I'm probably thinking with my heart and not my brain here but I would love to see it happen. I really hope he gets a shot somewhere and bounces back. I've always liked Cheechoo and would still cheer for him no matter what team he ended up on.
