timkawakami: Harbaugh's general set-up: Roman called 1st-2nd-down plays, Solari called short-yardage, Morton called 3rd-down passes & Chryst Red Zone...

No wonder our offense seemed out of whack. If true, this doesn't seem like a good way to run an offense. You have to wonder if having all these people involved affected the 49ers ability to get plays out on time.

I wonder do any other teams do this? On past 49er teams, I believe the OC called all the plays. I don't ever recall this kind of setup

I don't know, but it seems weird. I thought that OC's called 1st and 2nd down plays with an eye on setting up the defense on 3rd down. Maybe Roman and Morton communicated with each other very well (or maybe not).

When Walsh was HC, I would imagine when Holmgren called plays down, Walsh might have changed calls. But I can't imagine Mckittrick and Green were calling plays also

That's a lot of protocol. I am hoping Tomsula will let the OC call all the offensive plays. Simplify the system and step in if something isn't right.

What do you imagine a DL coach is going to tell a bad QB coach about calling offense when something isn't right?

I have to say, if winning is the object, I'm really struggling to see what the plan is here.

The protocol is class. Haven't you paid any attention to our off-season. Nevermind us looking into Kiffin. Class, man.
