I wonder if team "chemistry" is in play. If so that is a shame.
Long term I see Calhoun more of a DH part time OF. The rub is the hit tool and where it matches with other players. I think he will be a very good hitter better than most we have on the field presentlyIt's possible it only takes one guy to ruin a clubhouse especially if the vets are not strong enough to put the offender in his place. In the past the Rangers have gotten rid of good players because "they weren't playing well" with others so maybe it's the case with him, who knows. It will all come out in the wash eventually.
My first thoughts though are there is a glut of OFers currently (both in the minors and on the team), he wasn't performing, he's not that good defensively, he can't steal bases so basically he has the short straw, we don't need another DH Only player. I'd use him as trade bait as part of a deal to get a "controllable" 3rd starter this summer, solidifying the rotation would give both the players and fans hope for this year. Even if it doesn't all work out it will still keep folks "positive" instead of constantly bitching.
No way that I would want that contract.

10 pitches and 3 outs
The Mets destroyed him yesterday.
I’d be more interested in kicking the tires on Harvey. He’s 30 years old.
So I heard. Would be only interested in a MILB offer. With the money owed no one will pick him up until outright released. The Mets destroyed him yesterday.
This is hard to watch. Joey has the bug.10 pitches and 3 outs
Way too small of a sample size. An excuse simply cannot be made for the very poor decision to send him down..179 AVG, .207 OBP, .287 SLG%
Those were his July stats and his struggles extended back into the last week or so in June, so it's not surprising at all.
His being sent down is an indictment on management and not a very good excuse for hiw the team is playingconsidering how poorly the whole team has done at the plate I am afraid that I don't see one player, Calhoun, turning the path we're going down changing that much
Gallo continues to go the wrong direction. Why does this team struggle so much with the changeup, seems they have for years
If this is thinking, then he's an idiot.
That is a poor excuse for not taking appropriate action. Woodward is the master of excuses it seems.
There has definitely been some idiotic decisions made.If this is thinking, then he's an idiot.
