Also: the back to back thing stinks, and the number of games stinks, but if the Pens/CBJ series had gone to 7 games, their game 7 would've been the same night as NYR/PHI. Finish the series before game 7 and you get an extra break. AV using it as an excuse seems pretty petty.

Though I do agree with this, it's just not the case. Any team would have bitched about 6 games in 9 days. The Flyer fans on here would be up in arms about it as well, had they beat us, since they would be in the same situation. But nope, it's just AV.

Actually I'd be really happy that the Flyers are still playing now - and they'd probably have more success against Pittsburgh too - even though 5 games in 7 days and 6 in 9 is not ideal by any means, teams like the Flyers and Rangers play tons of back to backs and plenty of 3 games in 4 days and 4 games in 6 days because East Coast teams are close together and they usually play a lot of games in a short amount of time - like I said, if you take care of business sooner, you won't have to play all of these games in a short period of time

Everybody and their mother knew that series was going no less than 7 games. It's not all about a team being ''put away'' how about the team on the brink of elimination, stepping their game up, and playing with motivation to win the game and force a 7th and final game? But once again, it was the Rangers who were at fault, not the dominant play of the Flyers in game 6. We were dominated that whole game outside of the 1st period. Glass half-empty though.

Unless it's the Stanley Cup Finals, then the scheduled games get moved up a week if you finish sooner than the NHL would like.

Has anyone said anything that shows hate? Good natured ribbbing is about the only thing I've seen...at all.

You are missing the nuance. Any comment short of "They have the best ______ in hockey" is Ranger hate.

It's okay. Took me a while to get it. But I will pay them a compliment. They have the best excuse making coach in hockey.

Wait, he's the Rangers' coach, of course he is the only one!!!

Well they have the Staal brother most likely to crosscheck someone in the head, there's that.

I wouldn't say he's the *best* uncalled crosschecker of heads in the league, though.

Ahem.

So you're saying you want to be given the same level of respect as Flyers' fans?

Talk about careful what you wish for. ;)

No, just saying that any team would have bitched about it.

I don't know about that. (1) All the series are the same length. If you want to play fewer games, you win your series faster. The Pens did, the Rangers didn't. So of course they're playing more games in that span. (2) If you had more games tighter together, then you also had longer periods of rest prior to that as well. (3) I think the tightness of schedule argument is overrated in any sport. They are pro athletes - they're bodies bounce back quickly.

The schedules for the playoffs are wedged around other events the arenas have planned. That's just how it is.

I think regardless of how fans feel - it's a HUGE mistake for a coach to complain about it. It sends a terrible message to the team. As a leader, you have to determine the things you control and the things you don't. You focus on guiding your team on the things you can control and you motivate them to overcome the things you can't. Not the other way around.

Remember, i'm not the one complaining about it, I could care less about the scheduling, the more hockey in lesser time, the better. I'm complaining about their lack-luster play after game 1.

Would this have gotten more backlash or media if it wasn't AV who said it?
