Would this have gotten more backlash or media if it wasn't AV who said it?

Well it's New York, so that's going to get plenty of media attention and backlash. However, AV and his former GM Mike Gillis (this is more Gillis than AV in my opinion) did a fair share of whining about officiating in the playoffs (different standard etc.).

Remember, i'm not the one complaining about it, I could care less about the scheduling, the more hockey in lesser time, the better. I'm complaining about their lack-luster play after game 1.

You seem to think the world is against New York, which is ironic to most fans outside of New York. If ANY coach said this about the postseason schedule they'd be getting crap, as they should.

I don't think it would be as big of deal that AV mentioned the schedule if he wasn't quoted the night before saying this at the presser:
