not so good when the short-handed team gets more shots on goal than the Pens during a power play...:gaah:

I only care if we win 2-1. Pens need to play more defensivly but spend less time in their own end.

They really need to control more play in the offensive zone. Too many bad passes and not enough extended opportunities and a lot of one and done.

sadly I gave the Pens too much credit. Game 4 loss closes out the worst series loss that I have ever seen.

Still think the ECF loss to Boston or the Beach ball series in recent memory are worse. Really had no expectations for this team this season. We all know what they need to improve and it will be fun to the changes come this off season.

The thing I remember about the Boston series is having a PP and a 1 goal lead with less then a minute left. Then losing in OT.

Yeah being swept 4-0 and only scoring 2 goals in the series. It was easy to forgot that showing.
If I remember correction Kneel, Letang, Malkin, Crosby and Iginla all had zero points in the series with I think Kunitz being one of the only two goal scorers.
This series (even though they scored more goals) seems eerily similar.

so do the Pens move Rust, Kessel, ......?
You have to move one, if not two of the following

Rust, Kessel, Malkin...I move Kessel and Rust. At least Malkin will backcheck, scrum in the corner and steal a puck. Kessel just skates around and floats in the D zone and never lays a hit on anybody...ever.

Time for a new D coach/philosophy, and for Sully to go...

Just throwing this out there - the Penguins have not won any playoff games since this thread was created.

Maybe it's a coincidence. Maybe.

They can get value for Rust or Kessel. A team with the right amount of cap space, for lesser return, might take on one of the awful contracts on defense.

Coaching changes will happen but I don’t see Sullivan as being one of them.

Wow this team has some work to do cap-wise. Yikes. On the plus side, OTT will need some help getting to the floor

Yeah the 6 defensemen under contract next season it is NOT good:

Letang 7.25 - 3 more years
Schultz 5.5 - 1 year
Dumoulin 4.1 - 4 years
Maatta - 4.1 - 3 years
Gudbranson - 4 - 2 years
Johnson - 3.25 - 4 years

RFA:
Pettersson - RFA and should be signed.

Yeah that is not a defensive core of a playoff team, let alone a cup winner.
If they can't get out of Maatta, Gudbranson, Johnson at least they are in trouble. They won't have a taker for Letang and Schultz/Dumoulin are the only two worth keeping along with Pettersson.

Honestly, I keep Gudbranso, Dumo, Trottman and Peterson...the rest can go to hell!
