I can see Buck starting game 3 if the Pirates win, with Cole on the mound they probably wanted Martin.

I'd say below average, I'd rather have Sanchez for sure defensively. No way in hell I let Buck catch Liriano or Burnett with all the balls in the dirt they throw.

Bryan Morris should be reserved for mopup duty only. No way I trust him in any situation with a lead.

good point about buck and liriano's pitches in the dirt.

a split is all we need with liriano pitching the 3rd game.
we just have to make a choice of burnett in game 4 at home or morton.
i would pitch cole in 5 with the way he is going today. let him start the legendary status in this series.

I would use Morton in game 4 vs. Burnett. Morton has his nasty curve working and as long as he has command of it, he will be hard to hit.

It would be a hell of a decision not to pitch AJ again this series, even if it was the right call, not sure many people have the guts to make it if they were actually put in that situation.

I would use Morton in game 4 vs. Burnett. Morton has his nasty curve working and as long as he has command of it, he will be hard to hit.

Morton and Burnett are essentially the same pitcher in that regard. Morton's more consistent, Burnett's more capable of taking over a game entirely.

I go with Morton, though, for game 4. He's more rested. Whether or not it goes five, I set up Burnett to lead off the next series.

So, let me get this straight. Hurdle leaves AJ in the game to get pounded & to put us down 7 - 0 after 2 innings yesterday. Effectively, taking us out of the game, just after it barely got started.

Yet, he takes a 23yr old horse, in Gerrit Cole out today, after 6 innings when Cole was mowing the Cardinals down & was in no trouble at all in this game.

Sure makes alotta sense to me! ( Sarcasm )

I hope that move doesn't come back to bite us in the ass today.

I like the choice. We have a decent lead and a deep bullpen. Perhaps Hurdle wants Cole to be able to go in Game 5, or at least have that option, so he pulled him.

Also, Tony Watson has really stepped up the last month or so. He used to make me nervous when he came out of the 'pen, but I feel pretty comfortable with him in the game now.
