I laughed when someone mentioned Canada could get an Olympic medal. You seemed very adamant to argue that.

I posted to most up-to-date list where Canada ranks among other nations - which happens to be 21st. So yes, statistically there are at least 12 teams better ranked than Canada.

You have yet to provide me of proof otherwise.

Because rankings from 4-5 months ago are not proof? Unless you think Lakers are no better than 4th best in West per preseason ranking.

And I didn't argue the medal....just your zeal to rip them and claim there are "at least a dozen" better.

Did ya get stopped at the border unnecessarily? Not a fan of countries where they speak multiple languages?

you said at least a dozen teams that are better. Gonna back this or not

I'm saying Canada will finish in top 12 in the Olympics.

So let me get this straight, last year team USA with players like Jason Tatum, Kemba Walker, Khris Middleton (all All-Stars this year) and Donovan Mitchell only made it to 7th place in the World Championships...

but a team with Tristan Thompson, SGA and Dwight Powell are meant to do well in the upcoming Olympics - IF they qualify.

Clearly you were right on Canada. And I wasn’t in this.

Will say though, can’t always evaluate overall strength of an international team by how many NBA players they have.

Euro pros who play together all the time can compete with poorly fitting USA basketball all star rosters who don’t play together.

That is what happened to USA in the worlds. Don’t know about Canada, but sounds like perhaps a similar dynamic with worse players.

I got heavily criticized for even insinuating that Canada might not medal in the Olympics. Even mocked for saying they're not as good as Greece or Turkey or Serbia.

Just another interesting turn of events I suppose.

Apparently some people seem to think Canada is a force to be reckoned with in the basketball world...

I mean, Jamal Murray and SGA not being able to play for them is a pretty big blow. A lot of their bigs chose to not play as well so they basically got beat up inside all qualifiers.

Also doesn't seem like Kelly O was available. Had you told me no Murray, SGA, Kelly, or Tristan then I wouldn't think they would qualify either

That ranking mean very little.

If Canada bring the roster that I think they're going to then they are without a question better than Greece, Russia, Brazil, Italia, Croatia, and Turkey. Basically on the same level of teams like france and argentina

Canada didn't bring anything close to the roster I thought they would bring due to injuries.

That is a possible starting lineup.

G-Murray
G- SGA
F- Wiggins
PF- Olynyk
C- Tristan

Only 1 person from this projected starting lineup was on the roster so yeah lol.

Let's not brag like Canada had all their top players and still missed the olympics.

Let's say this is the starting lineup. They could have a bench rotation that looks like this:

Corey Joseph
Dillon Brooks
RJ Barrett
Brandon Clarke

Dillon Brooks and Clarke ( I think) wasn't on the roster either so yeah lol.

Canada were missing most of their top players

whoops for me....though many of the guys we thought were on their team didn't play

Germany didn't have their two best players and qualified.
Greece didn't have Giannis
Serbia didn't have Jokic

Heck, the vast majority of teams qualifying didn't have their best players available.

But yeah, let's go pretend that Canada would have whupped everybodys ass if they were full strength.

Did Greece even qualify? I know this Canada club kicked their ass a few days ago. Not saying they would have kicked everybody ass but yeah they would qualify. Murray is a top 25 player in the best league in the world and SGA is a top 30ish player.....that makes a huge difference and this doesn't even include guys like Brooks, KO, and Tristan
